Nick Foles Practicing (meged threads)

One bad game and we’re wanting to bench Minshew? I say, if he is healthy and playing well leave him in there. He may just be the long term guy we’ve been needing.

Exactly... He had one bad game, which I wouldn't necessarily give him full blame for. None of his receivers were able to get open and on that interception, it looked like his receiver wasn't on the same page and ended his route early. I'd hardly call that "hitting the rookie wall".

Regardless of what it means about Foles returning or not, Minshew's performance vs N.O. was about a good defense executing a smart game-plan and a rookie QB playing through two injuries. Not a rookie wall IMO. (10-20-2019, 12:11 AM)NYC4jags Wrote:(10-19-2019, 11:50 PM)temporaryname Wrote: Exactly... He had one bad game, which I wouldn't necessarily give him full blame for. Yeah I agree. I think the expectations of Minshew have gotten a little skewed since he's performed as well as he has to this point. He's still a 6th round rookie and if I had to guess, I'd say he'll learn from that game and continue to progress.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Only thing I can really criticize Minshew on is holding onto the ball. But he can fix it. Hoping to see him and th offense as a whole bounce back this week. Hopefully both sides of the ball show up.

I’d rather have a QB hold the ball too long trying to make a play than to get rid of it too quickly for no reason. Minshew has guts, something surprisingly most NFL prospects don’t have. I’m still on the Minshew bandwagon, but it will be interesting to see how Foles players when/ if he returns.

I meant holding onto to it while getting hit. He’s lost quite a few fumbles. I could have worded that better.
We now have 2 former SB MVP's on the roster.

If things continue the way they are going with Minshew during the regular season, I would like to shelve Foles and let his collarbone heal fully.
There's no need to rush him back in, especially behind a very suspect offensive line, and risk a major setback with his health. Minshew has done a phenomenal job holding down the fort - and then some...
Does Foles have the pocket mobility though. We don't have the franchise LT and RT that he had in philly. Until the play where he unfortunately got injured he wasn't really doing much against KC.
No pain, no gain.

Hopefully both sides of the ball show up. I think there's two reasons he's holding the ball like he is. 1) He's a rookie, and 2) We don't have a TE to speak of. I still think this staff/FO force Foles back into the starting QB role. Winning is and cures EVERYTHING! The coaching staff/front office will go with the player they believe gives the team the best chance of winning the game. Winning = job security and everything else is very much secondary.
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

He might be able to do the electric slide in the pocket though. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? He went 5 for 8 for 75 yards and a TD and had a QB rating of 132.8 in 11 plays. Even if you take out the 35 yard TD play, he was still moving the ball, he just wasn't in the game very long.

He can move around within the pocket fairly well, but doesn't escape it well to extend plays b. He did much of his good work in philly with backup o-linemen including the LT c. He looked quite good in the 11 plays he was healthy for. You should rewatch that if you think that's not doing much. He marched them down the field for a TD. Heck, henne didn't start/play this many games and he was clocking 6 million a year before moving on.

This is my approach ^ If Minshew is still a little gimpy and or still struggling to find open guys against press-man, then I'd absolutely get Foles back out there for a while around week 11/12. It forces opponents to prepare differently (some of them divisional) and we know Flip said he had lots of quick-hit pass plays designed for Foles. Those plays could help given our o-line's ability to protect for 2.5 seconds, but inability to hold up beyond that. (see pass block win rates here) It would seem those quick hitters are not Minshew's strength as we've gotten away from them more and more as he's continued starting.
