Jadeveon Clowney

Quote:Or maybe if the defense didn't let Shady McCoy run all over them? Or let Big Ben throw for 367 and 4 TDs?

If you watched either game the field was really sloppy. The eagles game where they couldn't even kick XP. I wouldn't even blame Stafford for those games even if he barely completed any passes. The fields were horrendous and the home team just could play in that weather unlike the dome team

Sounds like excuses....

Quote:"The 2013 Seahawks mirrored those 1985 Bears. Chicago was the last NFL defense to lead the league in fewest yards and fewest points allowed, as well as most takeaways. Monsters of the Midway, meet the Legion of Boom. The Seahawks defense shut out the Broncos for three quarters and forced four Denver turnovers."

So it took nearly 30 years for a defense like the Bears to win another SB? Hmmmm.... wonder why?

I wouldn't even call Seattle the best defense this year. I think the niners had a better d. Also theres been great defenses since then. The Ravens in 2000. You also don't need an elite defense to beat elite qbs, just an elite pass rush or secondary . Like the giants against Brady .., before this year , one of the best offeneses

Quote:Elite franchise QBs are rare. There probably isn't one in these drafts . That's fine, get your qb this year then. But look at the most successful qbs, besides Luck, were put on good running games and solid defenses. Big Ben , Flacco, Wilson , kaep, Newton. They were all allowed to succeed and become good qbs. I don't think Flacco or Wilson or even Brady would have succeeded as much as they did if they went to the Raiders. Who knows how good Gabbert would be in Wilson's position just handing it to Lynch and going 3 and out is ok because the defense will get it back

Russell Wilson converted 37% of his 3rd down passes this year.  43% in the playoffs this year.

This year the Seahawks went 3 and out... 49 times I think. I think Jacksonville this year had 68.  That's a pretty big difference.

The Jaguars by comparison this year converted just 27% of their 3rd down passes, and just 25% last year.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Well you would be wrong. How can a team that allowed more yards, more points and had 10 less takeways be considered a better defense?

And i watched that game and i watched McCoy torch the middle of the Lions defense.

So you're telling me that the Seahawks were a better team ? Thanks. My post told you the Seahawks were a Better team and was an easier place for a qb to succeed with what they had in place. Thanks for the stats to prove that point ?

Russell Wilson converted those third downs.

Gabbert would not have, and with Gabbert as QB, the Seahawks would have failed to make the playoffs.

Because I don't just look at box scores like you guys. Just like I thought the elite offense with the record setting Hof qb would lose to the Seahawks. I think the niners rush is much better than the Seahawks. I guess you guys didn't watch the championship gane either when the refs messed up two big calls in that game

So if you think someone is good like you think Teddy is ? And the media sides with you , you buy into the hype ?

Weren't you the one in this post saying Kaep is the qb to beat the Seahawks defense ? And now they're overhyped ?

I'm saying this after the Seahawks won the Super Bowl so I don't think the 49ers are over hyped right now. The media is about Seattle right now

For one, I never said Kaep was the qb to beat the seahawks, I said he was overrated...

I think Teddy on the niners would have them in the Superbowl...

And the 49ers secondary isn't as good as Seattles... so what's your point? Seahawks had a better defense this year in every category and beat the 49ers twice this year... any more brain busters?

That anyone who watched the niners Seahawks game saw two evenly matched teams. Also a Seahawks team that benefited from a missed roughing the kicker call. They also missed the fumble but it didn't come back to hurt SF

Blaming the refs.... nice.

I can't help you if you don't know the rules. There's a difference in missing calls because of judgement but if you miss a call because you don't know the rules. The ref didn't do his job . It happens .

TMD would be proud of such derailment.

The outcome of the Super Bowl suggests to me Caldwell and Co. will be hoping for Clowney to drop.  Wise choice, since we're never getting anywhere until we shore up that defense.  Affect the QB, and even the greatest QBs have no answer.
