For those crying over missing out on the 1st pick.

Quote:Look at who the playoff teams were. Then look at their QB's. This isn't rocket science. It's not often you have a 3rd round QB to come in and play like Russell Wilson. I doubt we'll see anything like it for a long time. You're right. You need a QB to win in this league. And yet, not one of the final 4 teams used a first round draft pick to acquire their QB. Seattle- Russell Wilson- 3rd round Denver- Peyton Manning- free agent San Francisco- Colin Kaepernick- 2nd round New England- Tom Brady- 6th round So it is possible to get a great QB without using a first round pick on one. The final four teams have proven it. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
YtraM...Peyton was a #1 overall QB...so even though Denver didn't spend a first round pick on him he was...they also paid him like $100 million dollars over what 4 or 5 years to get his services.
Russell Wilson and Kaep are nothing more than game managers...neither of them are really capable of doing what Brees, Manning, and Brady are which is win week in and week out with their arm...Heck Wilson has been nothing special since like Nov...he won the SB and all of a sudden people are like who needs a QB...we can take a guy late and still win...the odds of that are very very low...let their Defenses all of sudden drop to the middle of the pack and both teams will struggle. Tom Brady is simply an outlier in every sense of the word...how many other 6th round QBs since the NFL went to 7 round drafts have amounted to anything even close to what Brady has...I would wager none. Just because Wilson won the SB does not mean you don't need a very good QB to win in this league now. While I agree with the thread title...you don't have to have the #1 pick to get a good QB to think that you can just draft a guy late and be just as effective is plain dumb. Quote:You're right. Spin it however you want, but he was chosen #1 overall. You're not going to see a 3rd rounder come in a play like Russell Wilson for a long time, the same for Tom Brady. If you bank on hitting on somebody like Russell Wilson or Tom Brady in the backside of the draft I will confidently call you a MORON. Yeah, Colin Kaepernick.. the same one who was carried throughout the season was actually his team's demise this year. Look at his stats. He's not impressive at all. There's way more to the game than having an elite QB. If last night's game wasn't proof of it, there's nothing anyone can do to convince someone of it. I think it's sort of a "look, I told you so" thread to all of the QB sack hangers who think that simply getting a good QB will fix all the woes of the Jaguars. Those people are either delusional, or just ignorant of what football is about.

Those people are either delusional, or just ignorant of what football is about. So true. There's so much to fix before we become like Seattle. I like the way they built it. Took four years, but it ended with two trips to the big game and one trophy to show for it. They signed a QB to start that never had to play because they drafted wisely and developed players. It can come here, too but we've got more to build than what they started with four years ago. Still, we can contend in the same time frame. Especially with the rebuilding going on in the division. There are going to be a lot of splits going on in-division until someone rises from the bottom. The Colts are in for a rude awakening when it happens, though. A QB alone isn't going to get them any farther.

Jags are a decent team with better line play on both sides..even with Henne. Henne sucks, dont get me wrong, but all the teams in the playoffs have above average to nasty linemen on both sides. That's the real key to winning. Win in the trenches. I'll see myself out now...

With respect I could of been under center for Seahawks and would probably have a ring right now. The defence, lynch and harvin did that job..all Wilson had to do was not turn the ball over.
Wilson is effective in the offense they run. Has a good feel for the game and yea all he had to do to beat Denver was not turn the ball over. Either way, you still need your guy to step up and that's what Russell did. He wasn't drafted in the third round to start... he was going to wait and see but then won the job in pre-season after they had spent money on a FA QB (Flynn). You don't need a record setting QB to go all the way. But a defense like theirs as consistent and fast as they are isn't something you can just throw together with some time.
No pain, no gain.
Quote:Teams win championships. QB's do not. They are just a piece of the puzzle.QBs are not the end all be all but if you don't have one you aren't going anywhere. So while they are just a piece of the puzzle they are still a major component. Does anyone honestly think they'd be where they are with The same defense and Matt Flynn?

They are so delusional.. LOL.

Quote:They are so delusional.. LOL. Yea they are a dime a dozen, that's why we don't have one. Oh wait we'll catch lightning in a bottle and draft one for the cheap in the 5th round. Draft a QB in the first! He might turn into Leftwich or Gabbert. Oh OH he's not Andrew Luck....ahhh [BLEEP] he going to suck!
Quote:With respect I could of been under center for Seahawks and would probably have a ring right now. The defence, lynch and harvin did that job..all Wilson had to do was not turn the ball over. Quote:Wrong. How do you figure that exactly? The Seahawks D and special teams alone outscored the Broncos. If the offense contributes zero points, they still win that game. |
