Jadeveon Clowney

Quote:you dont know what dave will do, he might feel he can get Clowney and a franchise QB in the 2nd. i bet he would rather both than just a franchise qb
Funniest thing I have read to today. Franchise qbs don't grow on trees unfortunately

Quote:You don't understand the term franchise QB prospect then. Franchise QB prospects don't fall to the 2nd round.
so if a team drafts a qb out of the first round they are not a franchise qb prospect? lol

i guess Jets and the Bucs drafted Geno and Glenon to be backups last year, but it looks like they are trying to build their team around them. But Buf. got them a franchise qb since he was picked in the 1st. haha

By no means are they bonafide franchise qbs

Heck Vick is supposed to have gathered interest from both of them

You would of said the same thing abou Nick Foles and Joe Montana. By no means is any qb coming out of college a bonafide franchise qb yet. They havnt even played a down yet.

I am talking about just based on their play this year

However your point is fair, No one said franchise qbs can't come later. Its just the prospect of finding them are much much harder.

Lets slow down on Nick Foles, he plays in a very friendly offense

Essentially, no. Of course there are plenty of franchise QB prospects who fail...and a very small number of non franchise QB prospects who wind up turning into franchise QBs. But no, if a QB is deemed to be a legit franchise QB prospect he will go in the first round every time. QBs with first round tools and traits don't fall, if anything they rise even higher than they should

Let's not talk about pre scouting combine prospects plz. It was so archaic back then. And Nick Foles might (if he keeps this up another couple years, let's not anoint him based on 10 starts) fall into the category of rare non QB prospect who turned into a franchise QB. Make no mistake though, he definitely wasn't even close to a franchise QB prospect.

Montana in todays scouting/draft would be a bonafide first rounder

All criticism they had of him going into the draft are the same that I hear of Bridgewater

Montana is my favorite qb ever

All 32 GMs dont think the same. The have differ opinions on differ prospects. lol you think just like jungle cat that all GMs go off of nfl.com grading scale. GMs make their own bigboards and most are probably different. Sorry to bust ur bubble GMs have differ grades on players. One GM might think player A is a franchise QB and the another GM might not. There is probably some GMs that think McCarron is a franchise QB but wont take him till the 3rd or 4th because of value

You're kind of right, and they might be moderately successful while they are average but young and cheap like Schaub, Dalton, and Garrard. However, then they get big second contracts because teams foolishly think they 'led' those teams to playoff appearances, and then they can't keep the player who actually led them to playoff appearances because average QBs are making big money. Then teams miss their championship window because they wasted their good roster with average QB. Is that really what you want?

I sure as heck don't. I want a true, bonafide QB prospect every time...and if I'm taking a QB later it will be a toolsy but raw and unrefined developmental QB like Kaep or even Logan Thomas. QB purgatory must be avoided at all costs. Even if you miss you have to miss big, and then try and try again until you hit with a real franchise QB. That's the only way to sustain a long championship window.

You could say that about every single QB in this draft.  Every single one.

"You do your own thing in your own time. You should be proud."

I would be happy with a Cowney in the first and Van Noy in the 2nd Jimmie Ward in the 3rd Murray or McCarron in the 4th. Top 10 D easy

Falcons are trading up to the 2nd to get Clowney, Bridgewater at the 3rd for us. I can dig it

I am just glad that the Texans want Bortles or Manziel

I am confident in saying the Falcons aren't going to trade up in this draft. Dimitroff knows he has an old, expensive, oft injured roster right now. He doesn't have the luxury of throwing away picks this draft.

Wait and see, he sounded in love with Clowney and the Falcons have a habit of making roster draining trade ups in the draft
