Jadeveon Clowney

Quote:I am confident in saying the Falcons aren't going to trade up in this draft. Dimitroff knows he has an old, expensive, oft injured roster right now. He doesn't have the luxury of throwing away picks this draft.
this plus i see them goin oline to protect their 100$ mill qb

This makes a lot of sense to me. Their Offensive Line was, well, Offensive this season.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Tampa would be more likely to move up and grab Clowney.  They don't have many holes and the biggest one by far is their pass rush.

After thinking about it I think this is who Dave really wants. If he falls to pick 2 we may see a trade up scenario. We need a beast on defense and Gus would absolutely love Clowney attacking the QB..

I hope Clowney is working on his conditioning.....he'll be playing 75% of the snaps during a game since our Gabbert or Henne led offense will be 3 and out all day.
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

Just some things we've already known.

<p style="font-family:'Open Sans', verdana, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:15px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">Clowney seems to firmly believe he should go No. 1 overall, and when he was asked about going to the Falcons and staying close to home, he told the Dan Patrick Show as much Thursday.

<p style="font-family:'Open Sans', verdana, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:15px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">"I'd really be happy anywhere I go. But if I go [to Atlanta] I'd be excited. I'd be close to home still," Clowney said. "I just think I should be the No. 1 pick taken overall in the draft."

<p style="font-family:'Open Sans', verdana, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:15px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">Asked specifically about going No. 1, Clowney was quite clear that he should go first overall.

<p style="font-family:'Open Sans', verdana, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:15px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">"Yes sir, I should," Clowney told fill-in host Chris Mannix.

Quote:All 32 GMs dont think the same. The have differ opinions on differ prospects. lol you think just like jungle cat that all GMs go off of nfl.com grading scale. GMs make their own bigboards and most are probably different. Sorry to bust ur bubble GMs have differ grades on players. One GM might think player A is a franchise QB and the another GM might not. There is probably some GMs that think McCarron is a franchise QB but wont take him till the 3rd or 4th because of value
No GM who truly believes McCarron, or anyone else, is a franchise QB, is going to let him go into the fourth round.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

There's no way he could be a franchise QB and not have appropriate value till the third round. Only way stuff like that happens is mistakes in the evaluation process.

Mike Glennon looked decent last year.  Do you think Tampa drafted him to be their backup?

So you are trying to tell me if a team drafts a QB in the 3rd round or later they don't count on them eventually being a franchise QB.  They draft them to be a back up QB?

By and large, yes.

Occasionally, some teams see a trait they love in a QB and take a flyer on him with a mid round pick to see what he's got. You pointed out Glennon, Im guessing he was taken for his height. Idk though.

But yeah usually they're backups. Its how the draft works.

Not to become career backups.  You dont draft a QB in the 3rd round for a career backup.   Most of the time its for the QB to sit and learn behind the vet for a season or half of the season and it usually is best for the QB.  Kinda like Foles who was drafted in the 3rd.

Foles and Cousins are exceptions. They were drafted to be quality back ups and potential starters in case the QBs in front of them, injury prone runners, got injured.

Why do so mant people have trouble understanding this?  If a guy doesn't have "appropriate value" until the 3rd round, that means he's ranked no higher than 65th on your board.  How can a true franchise QB be ranked so low?
