At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.
 

Fowler was a high priced first round pick coming off a major injury.  The idea that the team wanted his rehab to be done onsite with team doctors is the most logical, sane, common sense approach any team could have.  That isn't some egregious demand or request.  It's just not allowed because of the NFLPA agreement. These players are only required to be with the team for 5 months of the year Aug-Dec.  The idea that the team would want all their players to show up for a few days during the 7 month offseason for voluntary camp isn't some egregious demand or request.  It's just not allowed because of the NFLPA agreement.  Tom yells at Jalen in the locker room for throwing a temper tantrum after not getting his way and Jalen acts like a baby about it.  

I think we need to differentiate between what a team is legally allowed to do based on the agreement with the NFLPA and expectations that are too demanding of players.  Rehabbing on site, showing up a few days during the 7 month offseason, getting yelled at for disobeying coaches, etc.... are all extremely reasonable actions and requests by the team.  Yet players complaining about how hard and unfair and mean Coughlin is.  It's weak.  Or soft, whatever you want to call it.  Players get paid far more money, have far fewer demands imposed on them in the past, and significantly better medical care.  Their life in the NFL is significantly easier than players from prior periods.  It just is.  

The real problem is Coughlin won't adhere to the rules set forth by the NFL and NFLPA's agreement.

I don't have a issue with any of that. TC broke the rules and we have to pay the price. I don't fault the NFLPA or Fowler in any way for that. My issues is with the letter sent out by the NFLPA that begins by being an announcement of the outcome of a grievance case filed by a player against a club. This same announcement changes tones in the last paragraph and turns into almost a hit piece against our organization that doesn't actually add anything to initial point. Removing the last part doesn't take anything away from the ability to inform the players about the initial point. But what is does do is potentially damage the clubs image in a way that could make it less attractive to Free Agents in the league.

That's pretty much my thinking.  I also agree with a couple of other posters that the "25% of grievances" remark is very subjective.  Keep in mind that the NFLPA is pretty much every player in the league.  I could be wrong, but I don't think that the email that was "released" was intended to be made public.  It was essentially "leaked" to the media by one or more players.

Either way in the end I just don't see how TC is employed by The Jaguars after the season.  I do like Doug Marrone, but this is a results-based business and I don't really see how he can possibly remain as Head Coach.  About the only one that may still have a job with The Jaguars after the season might be Caldwell.

Completely agree.

Shad is a hands off owner, which has it's own upsides/downsides and a topic worthy of it's own thread.  In short, this approach makes all those who are hands on (the front office and coaching staff) 100% responsible for the results.

That's why he's got to clean house completely, and rebuild the culture from scratch.  Anything less is carrying on the continuity of failure that's been dragging on since before he became owner.

This is perhaps the one thing that cemented my opinion that Shad should take this approach.  The NFLPA went as far as warning players about the Jaguar culture and whether they should sign there:

It is, and it's a distinction worth pointing out. Too far in one direction and you've got Dan Snyder sabotaging his team by refusing to let football guys run it. Too far the other way and you're Mike Brown, showing up at noon, leaving to golf at 1:00 and telling your GM to try not to spend any more money that day.

Shad is accountable ONLY to the other owners. As bad as it sounds he is not accountable to the news media, fans etc. I would not expect a statement by him because others want him to or pressure him. He has been a successful business man over his career and will make what adjustments he needs to. We do not know what he has been told and by whom. Patience, let this run it's course.

My guess is it happened with Telvin as well maybe Fournette.

This is not a shocker. It is disappointing, but not shocking. It leaves fans and media(which i am surprised hasn't made a bigger deal of this) to speculate and put together puzzle pieces that may or may not exist. As a fan it is frustrating but the pragmatic side of me understands the reasoning behind this method of handling things. The opposite approach would be the Jerry Jones approach which meant our owner would have had to appear on radioshows all morning and chastise any host who goes against him lol.

i think that is the obvious approach that every one wants. The reality is that we will probably here nothing of the sort unless a interview or press release is scheduled and staged to ensure that no blind side questions are tossed at khan, Lamping, or Dave.

This is ultimately a lose lose situation that will have casualties no matter how you handle things. I am among those who care about nothing more than the image of this club moving forward and hope whatever they plan on doing is done swiftly and puts this fanbase and players ease about our direction moving forward. But I'm not getting my hopes up about anything happening anytime soon.

Part of me feel like since the national media is not making that big of a deal about this, our owner feels like he can take his time and let it all blow over. I've been watching espn and NFLN all day at work thinking an announce or even a segment will pop up addressing this subject but i have only seen a few things that were brief to say the least.

As fans of the team some of us are acting like this a death sentence. While i don't think this is good look at all, I don't know for sure it is going to have as big of a impact as some of us think. regardless it is frustrating as a fan to sit here wonder what the possible outcome of this will be.
