You guys that are happy Coughlin was fired, in my opinion shouldn’t be.

What if Coughlin didn’t want Bortles extended? And what if he wanted to stick with Minshew when we were in the playoff hunt?

If it was the other way around then I agree, but what if he didn’t agree with the other side that made those decisions?

Coughlin is not the reason we lost games. Coughlin isn’t the one who gave Fournette 9 carries or less in 2 games.

I just think he was the scape goat. When he came back to Jax, everybody was on board. IF....IF he was the reason Ramsey and Fowler left town, then yes I agree.

Honestly we will never know. And Marrone should be next. But as some have mentioned, it just means Minshew is going to have a different staff next season which could be good or bad.

Tom's not very good at finding talent.

He's terrible with human beings that don't do exactly as he commands.

He had to go. Now, hopefully, we can return to some normalcy when it comes to our players and their relationship with the FO

I think it could go either way. There is a very strong argument to be made for keeping Caldwell and Marrone around for one more year because of Minshew's presence, to ensure continuity during that all-important gap between years one and two.

There's an even stronger argument to be made, imo, that taking half-measures by, for example, firing a GM and replacing him with an existing scouting director, or firing a coach late in the year and keeping his interim (and most of his staff) on have consistently failed for the Jaguars. If it were up to me, they'd both go and I'd find the best guy for the GM job and let him go out and find the best coach, and the two of them will figure out the best possible team.

I was 100% NOT on board with bringing him back in the first place. I've been very vocal about it from the day he was brought back. Knew it was a terrible decision and would be a huge mistake.

Pretty much everything I was saying has all but been confirmed, even though there were countless posters on here saying I was some conspiracy theorist, or just out right didn't know what I was talking about/making stuff up. Plenty of crow to go around for those people and you all know who you are.

For a brief moment, I felt great. Finally, the wrath of Tom was gone. This was needed for a long time. I got what I wanted for Christmas. Then, someone had to go and mention Pioli and McDaniels and I got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. God, please don't let that happen!

There’s 10 or more big time issues that were grossly mishandled:

1 - Extending Bortles
2 - Fowler getting traded
3 - Ramsey getting traded
4 - Not signing YAN
5 - Paying Jack but I think his salary will look decent in a couple seasons
6 - Paying Marquis Lee??
7 - Trading away a 5th for Hyde
8 - Paying Foles 88 Million for 0-4 
9 - Pulling Minshew when they should have stuck with the hot hand. 
10 - They way they utilize Fournette is just weird. 

If this was all Coughlin then OK, he should be fired.

I think Jalen Ramsey and Allen Robinson would still be #Jaguars if not for Tom Coughlin's tenure. Also think Ngakoue wouldn't be with the team in 2020 if Coughlin remained. For a team that had been bad at finding young talent for so long, he ran away off quite a bit.

I just love the snobs up here sticking their noses up with Mcdaniels because he failed in Denver. Most coaches have failed before.

Bill Belichick failed in Cleveland but was pretty successful with the Patriots. I'm not saying Mcdaniel's is the guy but at least consider it.

My thing with MacDaniels is how he screwed the Clots. That’s just bad character. Hard pass.

Fix the O-Line!

R I P Tom, I'll always love the way our teams performed in the early days, and wished we had an actual GM here then, because I honestly think if we had managed our cap better, we would have had prolonged success for a much longer time period and Tom would have brought us a ring. 2017 Super bowl was stolen from us, and you did help change the culture from bubble gum Gus ice cream BS, to winning is everything.

However, it does seem the NFL is no place for guys like Tom Coughlin anymore, and to be fair, he ran off 3+ very good players from the team, fined people for no reason and broke rules clearly set by the CBA. I think its the best move for everyone. Tom needs to just relax and enjoy life, spend time with family and reflect on a hall of fame career he had in the NFL.

yes Shad deserves a lot of blame for hiring tom and giving him free reign, as Vito said either Shad knew and did nothing or he had no idea and doesn't really care. Both are examples of bad ownership
