Playoff games in Jacksonville:

1998 victory over Pats at Alltell:  71,139
1999 - 75,173 (vs phins in a blowout win)  75,206 (loss to titans)
2017 - 67,442 (win over bills) 

There was no home game in the 2007 playoffs.

 And ALL of these playoff games in JAX were indeed sellouts - in fact - the 90's games were all well BEYOND the stadiums official capacity of 67,000 as seats were added to hold more fans.

Official capacity in the nineties was 73,000.

Incorrect.  That number was merely the initial build-out/remodel of the stadium after the city was awarded a team.

The stadium's capacity was adjusted and varied from year to year. They also augmented it for bowl games and other events.

The Jags average home attendance in the years 95-99 was 68,704. 
That would have them at the 17th most attended in today's NFL. 
People come in very viable numbers when this team is competitive.

They altered the capacity for various events and Jags reg. season games weren't always set up for 73K unless they were preparing for another event the following week.

I had done a little research a while back and DF is right. The original capacity after the renovations was 73K (actually it was a touch less due to a few seats that were considered restricted viewing). After the Budzone renovation the capacity was expanded to 76K and change. Since then a series of renovations has brought it down to it's current capacity of 67814. This matches up with my memories of what was being said/published at those times too.

The averages during successful years is obviously going to be better and with the expectations going into 2018, the per game attendance was back up to 66,674. Given how bad we've been lately, the argument could be made that our fan base is supporting the team better now then it did during the worst years in the early 2000s. Winning tends to be a cure all.

The average from that period surpasses 15 current teams' average  and is 2K more than the total capacity of the newly built stadium in Minnesota.

Agreed. And I think if we had a couple of playoff seasons back to back it'd be difficult to find a non-SRO ticket to a game with current capacity.

The stadium size was/is a compromise for Florida Georgia annual game. For a small market the capacity was excessive.  Do some research is all. The situation isnt perfect but the tarp stuff is overblown. I sat in limited view seating back in 1997 playoffs and it sucked. The game atmosphere made it awesome but the view was crud.
