I think this offense can produce competitively with:

• one more TE with hands
  
• Two upgrades on the OL (maybe just a LT with Cam moving to OG constituting two upgrades)
  
• Coaching to develop and utilize the OL more efficiently
  
• An elusive C.O.P. running back 
  
• Scrapping this stupid insistence to telegraph the run out of power sets
  

That's it?  Just a TE, 2 OLs, a RB, and a new coach -----LOL.  We should be able to resolve within this decade.

As info, it took us 10 years to resolve our weak DLine position and now the rest of the D sucks.

It would be very simple.  

Draft a tackle early, move Cam to guard, sign a FA TE, draft a scatback in the 4th or 5th rd, and hire an OL coach that doesn't suck. 

Will this front office and Marrone actually do any of this successfully?  God only knows.

It's a delicate balancing act few teams have mastered in the NFL. Look at how horrible Seattle's defense was in 2019. They literally put everything on Wilson's shoulders in Seattle now and it's just not enough to win every single game. You can only be a hero so many times before teams figure it out. 

The main thing is coaching and scheming. And with 9 draft picks at their disposal in this year's draft there's no reason to believe that they can't at least address two, three of these needs early on. They could land a solid receiving TE in FA. Draft a late round prospect like Harrison Bryant or Jared Rice to compliment Josh Oliver and James O'Shaughnessy during training camp. 

They could draft maybe one solid LT prospect and potentially move Robinson over to RG and you essentially gain two starters with one pick. Plenty of decent RB's in this class too. I wouldn't mind a late flyer on a COP back as NYC stated. There's good one's to be had between Anthony McFarland Jr. out of Maryland or Caleb Huntley out of Ball St. 

Coaching, scheming. Some decent draft picks invested early along the offensive line and front seven defensively. Maybe grab you some late round hopefuls at TE and RB and we're looking a lot better in 2020 with Minshew under center.

It really is feasible to get this team turned around into a more competitive squad in one offseason.
Just not sure about how feasible it is with the current people during the turning arounding lol

What are the expectations?
He wasn't really a guy I was targeting during last years draft so I wasn't sure what to expect and still don't.

That hamstring injury set him back tremendously. If he comes into camp fully healed I think he'll be ready to go. I liked him coming out of college last year. I think he could be a decent receiving TE early. Not elite. But solid. Provided the coaching staff knows what the hell they're doing scheme wise in 2020.

Well he was drafted early in the third round and suffered two different injuries that saw him get very few healthy snaps. So expectations aren't exactly through the roof. 

Personally, I took note of him getting open a number of times in two of the few games he played. 
So I think he'll be a positive factor if he can stay healthy and take a marginal step forward in development. 
I'd still look to add talent to the pool at the TE position, not because I don't have faith in Oliver, but because they need better depth  - and a guy that is a bit more of a Y/in-line blocking TE that can still catch when called upon.

Exactly. It's the same reason you go out and sign guys like Conley and Moncrief because you don't know what to expect out of 2nd year players. Chark stepped up. Maybe Oliver does the same thing in 2020. Either way. Having too much talent at a skill position of need is a good problem to have. Especially with this team.

Placing the OL players is the largest hurdle followed closely by the coaching staff improvements -- but this is not too much to ask IMO. 

Hopefully the new OC has a look at the tape and sees these needs.

Garrett is unemployed as he was previously HC of the girls and is now looking for work, likely as an OC waiting for another opportunity at a HC gig (which would be possible with Jax I suppose next year)

I don't get why you WOULDN'T want him here as an OC though. He only has to focus on one side of the football. It's the same reason I would look at Caldwell and Gruden. You gain a veteran presence with a ton of head coaching experience and a lot of QB work and experience to benefit Minshew's development in year two. 

Also. With this pretty much being Marrone's and Caldwell's final year up to bat potentially? And they're looking at the AFC & NFC North on this schedule coming up? The more coaching experience you can get on the offensive side of the football the better. Will we land one of them? Probably not. 

It's the same reason that made me sick earlier. We're still leaning with Wash until reported otherwise yet here it is Wade Phillips is potentially looking at being the DC in Cleveland. [BLEEP] Cleveland. . .

Garrett’s system would probably fit Minshew well. It worked pretty well for Romo for quite a while. Romo and Minshew are similar

Not using the term expectation, but I am not banking on him to be the savior of the position. If he manages to stay healthy and help the offense move chains, that's just icing on the cake for me. ...keeping this on topic with OCs, I don't see Oliver or the TE position in general to be that crucial as criteria to hiring our OC. I know everyone said Flip's schemes were reliant on TE to gain success, I don't want to paint our offense into that corner. Don't hire an OC who is some wunderkind with TE at the expense of the rest of the offense, especially when our TE group is a big fat question mark at this point.

I think it's more that one is currently unemployed, and the other is not likely to take a lateral hire with a less potent offense.
