Back on point, I'd take Clowney. I'm interested to see what Gus can do with a talent like him.  He definitely sounds like he has some maturity issues but nothing overly concerning.  You do wonder what millions of dollars will do.  But thats a concern with a number of guys.  

 

I like Bridgewater.  But I dont love him the way others do.  I picture a scrawnier Geno without the headcase issues.  Geno showed flashes and Im sure Bridgewater will as a rookie as well.

Scouting well is all that matters.  Draft philosophy is all fluff.

I think Clowney gets knocked too much for his mental side. He watched Marcus Lattimore , who had the talent to be a first round RB before he blew both his knees. He saw that it probably ruined the rest of his career. Lattimore will probably never make the millions he thought he was.

That could be a legitimate argument that I've heard but isn't brought up enough. Lattimore had two season ending injuries the latter being among one of the more horrific injuries seen on television. He is doubled teamed a lot and susceptible to chop blocks so I can see how he'd be apprehensive. If that holds true hopefully he could shake it off in the pros because he's just as likely to get injured there, maybe even more so.

Clowneys ceiling is about as high as possible. Bridgewater though has a higher ceiling than I think people are giving credit for. I think he has an Aaron Rogers ceiling personally

I still like Clowney and think he'll be a terror in the NFL for us or someone, but I agree with you regarding Bridgewater. People forget that in Louisville they ran a run first prostyle offense. I remember they mentioned that during the Rutger's game broadcast and the day after people were saying that he underwhelmed, yet he threw over 300 yards. I think a lot of his games were that way because of the system Charlie Strong wanted to run and we haven't seen the best of this guy's game. Bridgewater is the only player I'd take over Clowney, but not sure the Jags would agree though.

How did Super Bowl Champ Wilson do? His last four games of the season was mediocre. 4 Tds, 3 INTs. Playoffs? They beat the Saints and their defense despite him not scoring a touchdown and only completing half his passes. 

His playoffs stats had him average 1 TD, 0 INT, and just 174 passing yards a game. 

 

Carolina finally made the playoffs this season despite adding no playmakers on offense around Cam. What was the difference? Those DTs they drafted freed up their defensive ends to go murder the QB.

 

Clowney is the type of player that is going to impact your entire defense from the start and because of all the negative press he took, he is going to come out swinging. What is the rookie sack record? Every year people fall in love with QBs that don't belong getting drafted where they do. Teddy is going to be one of those guys.

The Seahawks are a top defense because of their secondary not their pass rush. DE's don't win championships.
