NFL.com - Jags GM HOPES signing Ngakoue will be 'relatively' easy

Allen and Ngakoue are on the field together frequently on third down pass sets, and will be on the field more and more as Calais ages out. Every single pass rusher worth a flip gets overpayed in free agency. That's how it works. The ever changing market determines "what he's worth" not some line in the sand drawn by fans at an arbitrary number like 17 mil per year. I'd rather be the club paying Yan 3 mil more than fans want to pay him than the club short a stud pass rusher we drafted and developed. We already HAVE good draft capital and we have the means to pay Yan too. This is a no-brainer for me. Pay the man what the market bears and lay the incentives on thick. He's a guy that bets on himself. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Having Yan (who's still just 24 years old) and Allen (22) for the next 8 years would be incredible. But they play the same position!!! We don't need 2 premier pass rushers. We will just draft a premier pass rusher in the 3rd round again this year. We should just trade Yan for 3 first round picks. I did that in Madden once and I ended up with the first 3 picks in the draft. The Jags should just hire me as GM. I have run the draft simulator at least 100 times now. I got all A+'s on my last draft bb!
If this FO allows Yann to get away it will rank among my largest disappointments they will have ever made. That says a lot considering the staggering level of disappointments this team has crammed down our collective throats. If there has ever been a guy that you can live with overpaying he is it. Especially considering some of the other incomprehensible payouts they have made to others.

If he's asking for Khalil Mack and Aaron Donald APY money/Guaranteed money, then no way. I'll take the 1st+2nd round pick and $20M+ in extra cap space. I think he'll sign with the Jags for an offer like Clark's deal plus a few incentives that kick in if he performs at an elite level. Even though Lawrence is a much better run defender than Yan and Clark while possessing the same pass rush production. Seems like a good deal for the Cowboys. He is not even close to the game wrecker Mack and Donald are and shouldn't be paid anything even remotely close to them. I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Allen and Ngakoue are both better than Fowler IMO. So - I don't miss him. Glad he's gone actually given all of the locker room and off field garbage. The way I see it, they upgraded Fowler by drafting Allen - and they needed to re-sign Ngakoue regardless. Caldwell has always preached "draft, develop, reward." Yet under Coughlin they rewarded a WLB playing out of position at MIKE prematurely then and low-balled a premier pass rusher. Makes no sense. If you want to go the coulda', shoulda' route - then Coughlin should have offered fair market value and terms for the extension before we got to this point. Demarcus Lawrence and Frank Clark are edge #3 and edge #4 in terms of practical guarantees.
So are we all on board paying him in that DE3 range now? Lol (01-23-2020, 11:25 AM)Dimson Wrote:(01-23-2020, 11:14 AM)Cleatwood Wrote: How is it desperate? You would get my vote, but I have actually run the draft simulator 200 times now, which, by any logic, makes me twice as good a GM as you.
