Quote:They both possess those positive traits. Montana possessed quite a larger quantity of them. How do you define "larger quantity"? Quote:Love how the casual viewers are throwing out the McCarron-Brady comparisons completely neglecting the fact that McCarron has no pocket presence.Yet you casually compare Bridgewater to Montana. BTW - in the McCarron vs Oklahoma cut-up you keep pushing - he handles pressure well the majority of the times he experiences it. He makes a bad decision trying to force a throw with an unblocked DB blitzing. Then he converts a few plays later with a rapidly collapsing pocket on 3rd and 6. Prior to that he escaped pressure with his feet three times - running for positive yardage twice and throwing for a completion once. The sack just before halftime was his LT getting beat like a drum and the center being pushed back so he couldn't step up to avoid it. It happens. He did nothing wrong. Then he converts again on the next play. The intentional grounding was ugly. So that's two poorly handled pressures. The next two pressures he makes a decent attempt to step into pocket. Then he takes a sack on which he might have slung it to his left a split second before going down. That's three on the negative side. Then there's a textbook blindside sack he didn't see coming. Nothing to do with bad presence on that one. I saw three instances where he could have displayed better pocket presence. Not a very glaring indictment on McCarron, IMO. Try again. Quote:How do you define "larger quantity"?He had more of numbers 2, 3, and 4 on your list than Bridgewater has. Number one I'm not as sure about. We show less advertisements to registered users. You must submit and agree that Bridgewater is Montana-like.
Otherwise, you are stupid and aren't allowed to have an opinion. You're getting slow at this NYC. ![]() Don't feed the trolls.

Quote:Yet you casually compare Bridgewater to Montana.Eh I saw instances where McCarron abandoned a clean pocket where he could step up and deliver a throw

When Montana was finishing Notre Dame I was in elementary school and not really exactly scouting college QBs.

When Montana was finishing Notre Dame I was in elementary school and not really exactly scouting college QBs.you should take a look Quote:you should take a lookWatched a few game recaps. Montana throws on the run often and looks really comfortable doing it. That's a similarity I guess, though most of the time with Teddy it's a designed roll-out and he's not improvising while he does it. Montana has better trajectory and velocity on some intermediate routes. Sometimes Teddy let's it hang up there a bit too long for my taste. (Montana also hands the ball off a ton in that Notre Dame offense!) A few of Montana's deeper passes down the sidelines are reminiscent of Teddy's a bit - but with a shade more velocity - slightly lower trajectory. I don't know - it seems like a strained comparison to me. I like Teddy as a prospect and think he's a first round talent. But - I don't really see anything too terribly Montana-ish going on there. NFL scouts didn't really see much that was terribly "Montana-ish" in Montana in 1979 either. He wasn't a prolific passer in college - threw nearly as many picks as TDs and went at the end of the third round.
Teddy compares most favorably to Aaron Rodgers. And I will take that any day.

Quote:Have you seen Montana coming out of Notre Dame???Why, yes I did. As a matter of fact, I stared across the Gator Bowl field at him from the Penn State student section during the 1976 Gator Bowl. Fine quarterback, except that he was injured and did not play. http://youtu.be/5q01x8bQRhU HERE'S THE ENTIRE 1979 COTTON BOWL

I figured I'd weigh in here. The crazy thing is that many thought Tom Brady was the 2nd best QB on our roster. Drew Henson was one of the biggest recruits in Michigan's history and was suppose to be a superstar QB. Tom Brady, the cool, collective upper-classman made it very difficult for Henson to win the job. That ended up being the story of Henson's life, and likewise the story of Tom Brady's.
This speech gave me chills..... you don't have to be a Michigan fan, though, to appreciate this speech. You hear this speech and you think to yourself "This is a guy I want leading my football team.". There have been more talented players than Brady. There have been quarterbacks with betters arms and better frames than Brady. I don't know if we've ever seen a more determined QB, though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfnGtG-R6xI |
