Yikes, I like Moncrief as much as anyone, but I'd be pretty shocked if he goes in the top 50 picks. This WR class is just too stacked.

Because this class is littered with those types of guys. He needs to greatly improve his route running and hand catching. He definitely isn't as good as Robinson or Adams and they are both physical specimens too. He doesn't have nearly the consistency of a Matthews, or the vice hands and catch radius of Beckham or Landry, or the open field jaw dropping speed/agility of Cooks. He's in the tier w/ other nice developmental guys like Richardson, Coleman, and Bryant.

 

He's still a nice prospect and in a lot of classes he would be a top 5 WR prospect, but in this one he is fringe top 10 at best.

Yes he is a talent of course, but he also needs a lot of work. In this loaded WR class that puts you outside the top 10 WR. Not a knock on him, just shows how great this WR class is...gonna be one of the best all time top to bottom.

Route running could stand improvement, almost every WR coming out of college needs that. He has the speed. He had a huge amount of YAC VS. LSU AND MSU last season, LSU having always a strong secondary and MSU having two early 2nds (he abused Jonathon Banks whom many wanted last April).Matthews is more polished but there is no reason to think he is behind Cooks, Parker and Co.

Matthews is more polished but there is no reason to think he is behind Cooks, Parker and Co.

First of all Parker is staying in school. Secondly...throw on a Cooks cut up and a Moncrief cut up and I promise you will be more impressed with Cooks. He honestly looks like a stronger, better w/ hands catching Tavon. The only thing Moncrief has on him is height. Cooks is better in every other way and he damn near doubled him in production, which does matter to an extent.

Fair enough, he has the package he just needs to put in more work than a lot of other similar prospects to get there. That's all, I would still like him in Jax I just think he might be there on day 3 even.
