You think we still suck? I think you have to give Caldwell some credit. Nope. Didn't say that at all. In fact. I have been saying for a few years now that 2017 was a fluke if you really look at the schedule and the quality of teams they faced. And they barely scrounged up 10 wins that year while still managing to lose to the Mariota led tacks twice, a Cardinals team led by Gabbert, a Jets team led by an over the hill McCown and a few other rookies on the schedule too I believe. They had to pull countless trick plays out of their [BLEEP] as well on special teams that year just to keep the incompetent offense on the football field longer. Don't be fooled. This team was far, far and away from being a legitimate contender with this front office in place. If they were that close we wouldn't have seen them collapse as bad as they did. They caught a lucky break that year on the schedule. That's about it. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? You think we still suck? I think you have to give Caldwell some credit. And you know the devastatingly painful part of 2017? Is how much the franchise invested in their own hype on that season and made franchise killing decisions because of the lightning in a bottle nature of one season in a decade. As a counter point, let's make believe they didn't extend Bortles, what would be different right now?

That's a great read and I'm very surprised about the riff between Jalen and AJ. I thought they had a good relationship. And I'm surprised that Telvin caused so many issues. Guess it's good he left. And as much as losing his talents, trading Jalen was probably the best decision. That 2017 season felt so much like a team and Duval against everybody, but it was just an illusion looks like. We may need to trade Yan and move on from him too. He seems to be all about himself right now as well. I can see how TC ticked him off, but he's letting that affect everything going forward. We need to start over with Minshew leading the charge and Calais leading one more year to bring the defense back together. I think Myles and Allen will take that lead when Calais retires/leaves. As bad as it feels losing all of these players recently, it might have been the best thing for us...
Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!

Even UGLIER considering we'd have given up the first round pick that gave us Donovin Darius & we'd have a bust in Enis instead of an all time great in Fred. YUCKKK
Championship Formula:
1) Draft Trevor Lawrence! 2) Play good physical Defense! 3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy! 4) ??? 5) Blank #2 6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
Ehhh I think Prisco dramatizes sometimes. But, this all seems more or less on point.
Too much ego Luckily Minshew is the antithesis of ego, he might be the hero we need AND deserve We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

But but but Coughlin was the devil!, he was evil and poor players like Ramsey and Telvin had to suffer so much with him, we lost them because of him! he destroyed the Jags!
Nothing new in the article, but I think the whole “player ego thing” is over blown. A somewhat decent HC who could lead would fix that stuff, but that wasn’t mentioned what so ever. Article was a bit of an excuse for Marrone. No mention of him absolutely being the sole reason we lost the AFCCG, just a mention of a player going rouge on 3rd and long play. Marrone laid this team down with 2 minutes to go in the first half and the entire 2nd half. He tried to “hold on” to a win. A complete loser mentality, and this team paid for that.
Why did a player did a player go rouge? Because coaching was letting the team down, again. Does that allow players to go rouge? Hell no, they should all stick with the trash play no matter what, but imo it’s what lead to players doing it. “Attitude reflects leadership”- from that one football movie lol, is true. This team has zero leadership from the top, and we lost that AFCCG because of Marrones decisions. Not a Myles Jack non called fumble recovery. Not a player going rogue on a third and long.
"The Jaguars offered Ngakoue a deal that would have paid him $18 million a season last summer, but he turned it down. The talk during negotiations was that Coughlin kept pinging Ngakoue for his run defense, which is why he took a hardline approach to the discussions. With Coughlin gone, the hope now within the organization is that a deal can get done, but it is not necessary with the tag."
Ngakue is truly an idiot xD Wow, so it is true that a bunch of idiots/losers made fun of Calais when he has trying to be the leader and show the other players the way, not surprised this team is hot garbage. Marrone is just clown then, just like Caldwell and Khan.

You think we still suck? I think you have to give Caldwell some credit. I can agree with you to a degree. For example, I used to caution that it would be virtually impossible for the 2017 defense to ever score as much as they did that year. There were a couple games where they legitimately scored the bulk of our points. That would have been almost impossible to repeat. The defense was still good going into the following year. Minus some major offensive woes, I think we would have still been competitive. Suggesting that the entire year was a fluke is going too far. The Jags defense was built pretty solidly. If you replace Bortles with Mahomes the following year, you are looking at a game changer. If Coughlin never comes in, we lose Campbell (possibly), but gain Mahomes and lose Bortles? Yes please. I usually enjoy reading a Prisco take, and this is no exception, but realize it for what it is:
Prisco's take.
KC has a great OL, TE, WRs, RBs do I need to go on? Oh yeah, their D is fantastic.i heard the won the last SB..
Watson is only 8-8 with the Jags dumpster fire of a roster. Our last decent TE was really a tackle who could catch, Kyle Brady. Saw him on his bike several years ago, just a massive man. Mahomes surrounded by mediocre talent, no TE and a pathetic OC in JAX translates nto an 8-8 team at best.. Jaguars, the hone for misfit toys. Nobody wants to play here. Who blew the coverage on NE's 3rd and 18? And Frank Wychek is still open in the back of the Jags endzone..... (03-05-2020, 03:08 PM)knarnn Wrote:Trade back for Mahomes?! Why? LMAO sure Dave wanted Mahomes, he is the one who drafted Bortles... Anyone actually believes that? really?

Releasing players that should not have, forcing players to retire and not knowing how to control the locker room. Its liable to happen again if we dont get rid of the front office. Does that not mean the front office didn't have control and allowed everything to get where it did? Allowing certain players to stay, getting rid of players that could keep the younger players in check. Bad front office and management overall it what it all boils down to
Let the fans vote and make the first round selections. Then DC can pick the rest
It should be this way from now on (03-05-2020, 01:02 PM)homebiscuit Wrote: Good article but it pretty much confirms everything we know already which is we are a victim of egos. Egos of the players and TC. Minshew is the only thing keeping me going with this team at the moment. That kid is not your usual 6th round rookie QB. His personality is fantastic and exactly what we are. He needs to be a presence in the locker room. I look at Russell Wilson at Seattle. They gave him that team, let him grow with that team and now its his. I hope we show that same faith in Minshew. |
