Trade for offensive player?
|
Saw this in the tweets...
https://twitter.com/E_Dilla/status/1237372337386934272 It was following on from talk about Ngakoue, so I guess he's talking about trading Yann for a player. Trent Williams maybe? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Tweet unavailable? I hope not, Williams wants a lot of money and he is 31

It seems he's now deleted it, which probably means it aint happening.
It just said that the Jags were looking into trading Yann for a "good" offensive player. And that it was 'possible' but not close. Or something like that.
Doesn't seem like there's any fire nor smoke to this now. Wouldn't want to trade Ngakoue for Williams no how. Would still want draft capital.
That's a 7 year age difference and this is a decent draft where you should actually try and grab more selections. Especially when you should be able to land one of the top three, four tackles in this draft with the 9th overall pick. This is probably someone saying "Oh. Jay Gruden is in Jacksonville now. Oh! He was in Washington last year!" ![]() ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. Ah yes...trade for the disgruntled LT. That worked out OH SO WELL when we traded for Brandon Albert, right?

If it was Trent Williams, would the Jags be willing or have the room to pay him $20m per season? It is what he is asking....

The good offensive player needs to be an elite (healthy) tight end, plus a 2nd round pick, or Amari Cooper straight up. Trent Williams has been out of football a year and would be like adding a one-year expensive patch to the line.

This really fails when you realize he was disgruntled because the Redacteds' medical staff's best advice was to basically rub some dirt on his cancerous tumor. I think I would be kinda bitey and want out of that mess, too. (03-11-2020, 08:54 AM)Mikey Wrote:(03-10-2020, 12:50 PM)NCJag Wrote: Ah yes...trade for the disgruntled LT. Granted, when HEALTHY, Silverback is one of the best LT's in the game but he hasn't been healthy in TWO YEARS. From 2010-2018 he only played in 83% of the games possible. He's only played a FULL 16 game season TWICE in his career (2012-2013). He's been suspended once for PED's/substance abuse already. Elite LT's usually have a longer life span than elite DEs (Whitworth, Peters come to mind). He just seems like the type to come in and rock the boat, get 'injured' and be another in a long line of Jags trade/FA failures “Motivation alone is not enough. He basically said it was Yann's demands that killed the talks.
It'll be fascinating to see how all this plays out. Also, it seems we definitely are looking to upgrade LT. (03-14-2020, 11:02 AM)JagJohn Wrote: He basically said it was Yann's demands that killed the talks. Yep. https://twitter.com/e_dilla/status/12388...12545?s=21

If you want a top left tackle, trade ahead of the Jaguars. I'm glad the talks are dead now. Going after Trent Williams is pure short-term thinking. Father time is already nickle and diming him.

I thought he would maybe get $15M - $18M per year in the New York market between the Jets or Giants. The other way you could look at this too is Washington's position in this year's draft. They have the 2nd overall pick in this draft. Everyone is already tagging Burrow to the Bengals. The Redskins officially hold ALL of the cards for the next best player in this draft. Or, in all honesty, THE best player in this year's draft. If they're trying to flip Trent Williams at LT and "looking" to gain Ngakoue via trade at DE that automatically gets other teams thinking that they'll be leaning towards Chase Young or one of the top LT's in this draft. They're using this as chum. I don't think they're really all that serious about Ngakoue. Especially Ron Rivera with Jack Del Rio in charge of his defense now with the Redskins. Where would Ngakoue fit scheme wise? He's not Von Miller at OLB. And he's not a big end like Julius Peppers. I call full on B.S on this movement right now. This is all chum for trade talks. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. Shows that there may be interest in OL after all. Also, the cap situation gets better after this season.

Should have taken the contract last year, he didn't do anything this year to force anyone to give him more. 18m right now is too generous, he should be around 16 per year. I am ok with 18 though. |
