If Clowney and Bridgewater Are Both There at #3........

Quote:The Seahawks are a top defense because of their secondary not their pass rush. DE's don't win championships.
It's a large helping of both really.

Quote:People think defenses like the Seahawks fall off trees and can be attained in one draft.

Fact of the matter it takes time, patience, coaching and luck to assemble a top defenses like the Hawks

Now that is BOOM for you
I am not saying that the DEs made their D. I was pointing out a fact that even franchise QBs likes Luck, Big Ben, Rivers, Cutler, Ryan, and more can all have bad years. They can also have good years and the team perform poorly. Eli fell off quickly this year. Clowney has a much higher ceiling than Teddy. BOOM.

Thats like saying Reggie White has a much higher ceiling than Aaron Rodgers???

But who has the better chance of taking their team to the superbowl????

Coupled with the fact that White never sniffed a superbowl until he teamed up with Favre on the tail end of his career

I do agree with your first point though

I will say this. I wouldn't want to be in Caldwell's shoes.

It takes a team to get to the Super Bowl. Again, when Dilfer and Wilson have one, and Alex Smith has gotten close, and Eli Manning has two, and Terry Bradshaw has 4, you don't need an elite QB to win. You need a team. I would rather have Reggie White than Aaron Rodgers. Reggie Whites production was second to none. He is the best his position has seen over a sustained period. You can't replace that production. Rodgers production can be replaced by other guys in the league.

The Giants beat the Pats largely with a pass rush.  And would have certainly lost without it. The Seahawks secondary would have had to play Manning quite differently if he wasn't under  near-constant pressure from a successful 4 man rush.

DE's don't win championships per se.  But really good ones sure do help a lot when facing Manning, Brady, Brees etc.

If they didn't have a good defensive front, the Broncos would have pounded the ball more instead of trying to throw...

DE's Production does not win games, if it mattered the eagles would have won 2-3 superbowls during the 80s

Rodger's production won rings...

A great team is a lot harder to assemble than finding a great qb

the year Rodgers won a ring he had the DPOY Woodson, one of the best pass rushers in Matthews, and the top scoring defense

You are not a wise man if you believe production at any position does not win games. A Rodgers production won 1, just 1 ring. Eli has 2. Ben has more than Rodgers. Manning only has one. Terry Bradshaw has four. If finding a great QB was so easy, we would have found one by now after Brunell.

Bruce Smith has 200 sacks, no superbowl rings

It took eli to enter his prime and become captain clutch for Strahan to have another ring

All those qbs you just mentioned were considered "great" qbs when they won their rings...

All of them, except for the 1st ring Ben won, produced magnificently in the playoffs when their team needed it.

Never once did I say finding a great qb was easy, I said it was EASIER...

Fun Fact: An NFL Championship was won wen a QB posted a QB Rating of 0 by going 2 of 12, for 7 yards, and 2 INTs.

They were second actually, Matthews was DPOY

Woodson was on the decline at that point in time...

Google it. Now, show me how DE doesn't help win games? Show me these multiple rings Rodgers has won? Teddy will never be AROD.

He has a much better chance of being A-Rod and Clowney being Reggie White...

You know why??

He is more willing to get under the microscope and perfect his craft.

No half-a**ness around here, Bradley is not playing those games

Clowney gave enough enough trouble to Spurrier don't need that here
