With the hoard of pro-caliber WRs in this draft, no team is going to give up a decent draft pick for Keelan Cole.   He's a 4th or 5th WR on most rosters and doesn't contribute anything meaningful on special teams.

He looked good on his few kickoff returns last year.

I like Cole a lot, but a 4th in this draft is very tempting. 

As a Gator fan I watched the Orange Bowl against Virginia. Virginia had a receiver, Hasise Dubois, who tore up the Gator's secondary. He also went over 1000 yards receiving last year, with ZERO drops, so it wasn't just the one game. I expected him to be rated in the top ten draft prospects, but the only list I've seen him in has him at #64. If there are 63 better WRs in this draft then we ought to replace our entire WR corps with our late round picks.

Makes plenty of sense if it is indeed for a 4th. Especially if they have plans on taking a WR early.

He came here as an undrafted FA.

He turned heads during training camp, but dropped some easy passes during preseason games.  He made the team his rookie year, but had almost no impact the first half of the season.  He came on the second half of the season and looked absolutely dynamite, catching passes for about 750 yards in a little less than half a season's worth of games.  The next year, he was marketed by the team as a rising star, then promptly fell off a cliff, almost getting cut.  Last year, he came on late once again.  This offseason when his contract was done, he was given a second round tender to keep teams from signing him, now he's being shopped in trade.  I'm willing to bet anything that if there are no offers for him, he gets released after the draft.

At his best, he has explosive deep speed and can make big plays.  But for whatever reasons, he hasn't put it all together for a complete season, or even most of a season.

Since this draft is so deep in WRs, why would anyone give up a 4th rounder for Keelan Cole? That doesn't make sense. They can use their 4th round pick to get a WR who is as good or better, and pay him 4th round rookie wages.

He showed more big play ability than MSW ever did.  To me it isn't close.

I don't assert Cole was a Hall of famer or anything, but somehow he should have been more productive than he was.

He was merely the main beneficiary of that month long stretch where Fournette got hurt and we threw the league a curveball with the crossers crossers and more crossers offense. He's been nothing more than barely draftable or rosterable before and after that.

MSW was a terrific receiver when healthy. He was rarely healthy.

I agree with Bullseye about the strange case of Cole. He was one of the top receivers in the NFL in December 2017, not just among Jags receivers. As far as I know health is not the explanation for the up and down career so far.

He has also looked good as a kick returner. I wonder why he hasn't been used more in that role.

I like Cole as a 4th or 5th WR on the team. That being said, if a team offers a 5th round pick, then you make that trade all day every day. The reason that I say for a 5th round pick is that I seriously doubt that’s team offers up a 4th rounder.

Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency. 


1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.  

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.  

He was always pretty good when he seen the field. The problem was after his good rookie season he was playing pretty good but started having a fumbling issue that cost us a few games in 2018 and then marrone put him in the doghouse for that and he barely saw the field. They started gaining some of the trust back last year and he didn’t fumble and started to get more play time and was producing some plays.

On CBS's prospect ratings, Hasise Dubois is the 500th ranked prospect overall and 71st WR.  He's got excellent size, but the knock on him is his speed for the NFL.  It's a shame for him that he could not run at his pro day, as it was cancelled.  Yea, this WR class is deeeeeep.

Es I think Dave is probably taking one or two receivers in this draft, thus it may make sense to free up some room by trading Cole. You have to assume that Marquise Lee is going to be cut, but when? Maybe the plan is to wait until after the draft to see what we end up with before we clear out anybody just for the heck of it.
