I don't think this affects his stock at all. In fact, maybe there's a secret plan in Minnesota to get Priefer to resign by drafting Sam and putting him on special teams duty for his first year 

 

Or maybe not. Either way, this is an event that's been a long time coming, and I hope that Sam has a very long, prosperous career.

There can't be a secret plan to get rid of Priefer. Michael Sam said he does not care what team drafts him. Because he is a defensive player Priefer will not be his coach. I don't even know if he is still at Minnesota because usually new head coaches hire their own assistants.

I think other gay players will see how this plays out. If everything is kosher, they will also come out. Eventually it will be a non-issue.

for the next few months its will it affect his draft stock?

after the draft day if he goes lower than expected it will be its still a homophobic league

if he goes at the right level or higher it will be ohhh how will his teammates react to him

 

ultimately it doesn't matter one jot and hopefully his example will inspire others to come forward til it's no longer an issue.

As anon2112 commented - He's a brave kid. It won't be too much of an issue - save a few mean spirited comments from some of the uneducated, ignorant or extreme intolerant religious right. (and of course no small amount of media hype and over dramatization)  I wouldn't mind if the Jags used a fourth round pick to try him out at LEO.   (11.5 sacks last season and 19 tackles for loss)

 

Sidebar note to the OP:   The word "admits" in your thread title sort-of makes it sound as if he's guilty of something. Not trying to start a religious debate - but whatever your feelings/convictions on homosexuality - it's kind-of a poor choice of words.  (nothing personal - and I doubt that was your intention)
