Jags Select Sam
|
Will it happen? I keep hearing he's an undersized productive passrusher with a motor (juice) but limited coverage skills, ideal candidate for the LEO position? I think our lockerroom is young enough and void enough of talent to welcome him. It could also help to promote the Jags brand, although I'm sure it may alienate some fans. If he slips to the fourth, could be a steal?

Quote:Why wasn't this thread here before he made the announcement?Too much focus on Teddy and the 3rd overall pick
The man above raises a good question. Nothing should have changed about his evaluation good or bad.
He wasn't/isn't a top 100 player this time yesterday and he still isn't. Decent all around rotational DE contributor. Definitely not a LEO prospect...doesn't have the speed or bend.
I have a feeling they'll select a pass rusher in either round one or two. But - if they don't address the position early - he's as likely a candidate as any other potential LEO in the draft.
We'll have a better idea around March 12th or so when we find out Caldwell's intentions in FA. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
If he fits the mold and and is at great value then yes. Not because he will "promote" our name and such. It drives me crazy. Glad he is who comfortable to come out and I applaud him but I think even he would be on board with me when I say I only want him if we believe he will be worth the pick and not to help further gay players in the NFL or make us look better. It's about winning games not looking good

I like him.
He isnt the ideal picture of a DE and he isnt the best athlete in the draft, but he is intense, has a high motor, he's very quick off the ball, and he is a pure football player. Assuming we don't go DE earlier I would be ecstatic with either him of Trevor Reilly in the mid rounds. Quote:Just to be different, Bortles.

One of the draft prospect rankings I like to use as a loose reference has him at #110 and projects him in the 3rd or 4th. Same place he sat on their chart 2 days ago. DiRocco called him a fit at LEO in his blog today on espn.com - though I don't put too much stock in his take.
Quote:Why wasn't this thread here before he made the announcement? Because nobody on this board talked about him before the announcement. That was the only reason anybody started talking about him.

Why is anybody thinking he will go higher than fourth?I've seen two different sources say "third or fourth" round. Our third round pick is too high. But a team with a later third round pick may like his abilities enough to select him. I don't care one way or the other. I have more important things to do then to focus on the man's sexuality. If he can play then bring him in.
But I could imagine a certain vocal sect of this community that was Pro-Tebow becoming even more obnoxious about a player such as Sam.

So we would have to pick him in the fourth round. He probably will still be available at our additional pick from the Ravens.
Its funny how no one mentions him before and no threads were made and now the guy comes out as gay and now all these people want to draft him, pathetic.

The people who wanted Tim Tebow are Gators fans and northeast Florida residents. If anybody wants Michael Sam because of something he said, that person cares more about gays than football. We need to think about why nobody mentioned him before the news broke on ESPN. Was it because he is projected as a fourth round pick? The idea that we must pick a Leo in round 1 or 2? Based on what I read about him as a draft prospect, he should still be available the second time we pick in the fourth round. We will not know until next week what that pick number is.
Did anybody ever think about Michael Sam as a draft prospect the whole time we were talking about pass rushers and late round picks? The first time I saw his name on this board was in a thread that has nothing to do with football.
