Jags have finally hit rock bottom! How has the draft helped this team?

I still think with better run defense we'll win more games Minshew played well and him improving with better D.
No Fun

I think we had a very productive draft. The Shenault pick alone has me excited. Not to mention we got the best CB in the draft. And Chassiom is going to be a stud too.

Hamilton in the 3rd was a steak in my eyes.

Clearly you should get that eye looked at.

Bradley? Khan's fault!
Bortles? there wasn't a franchise QB in 2014 or 2015 so should we really blame him for at least trying by selecting Bortles? I don't think so!
It's known that Caldwell wanted Mahomes but since Khan gave all the power to that old guy we went Fournette! If we would have let Mr Caldwell do his job we would have Mahomes right now! probably a SB too!
Also who choose Marrone! the old guy!!!
Thank God Caldwell at least conviced the old guy to draft Allen, bring Calais and Bouye otherwise who knows what that guy would have done to our franchise
Caldwell is yet to make a mistake while being our GM, the guy is a genius!!! Banana

You're big on hyperbole.

Coughlin was probably responsible for Calais, Bouye, Norwell, and the rest of the free agent signings from 2017 to 2019, so he gets the credit there.

Allen and Ramsey were clearly no-brainer picks. Even Gene Smith wouldn't have missed on those. I'd guess Bryan was a Caldwell pick and Fournette a Coughlin pick since that seems to fit the style of each. I'd also guess Caldwell made the Bortles re-sign mistake and Coughlin the Foles mistake.

I didn't think that Khan was responsible for Bradley, but two other posters corrected me. So yes he was. The Jags could have won the division in 2015 with anything close to a competent defensive coordinator. Bradley's climate was responsible for at least a few failures in player development; a lot of players had their first year with the Jags as their best year with the Jags, including both draft picks and free agent signings. So you might as well just throw out the W/L record of the first four years. If you want to point out specific mistakes in the draft then Caldwell is fair game.

So yeah, Caldwell has made a lot of mistakes. You could say that of every GM. Who would you want as the Jags GM to replace Caldwell (not counting the GMs of other teams since they can't be hired)? I remember when TMD kept pushing for Phil Savage LOL.

John Dorsey or someone from the Ravens or Chiefs probably.

I am a fan, not a cheerleader.

5.1YPC is a travesty, there's no way we'll be as bad against the run this year.

Since he is better in zone and a better tackler and he is pretty decent in man coverage I would have to accept thre trade, lol.

Last year we won 6 games with a rookie. This great he will be better and so will our defense.  I see us finish adding 7-10 wins.

At least twice in our history we were bad enough to get the first pick,

We lost a coin toss in 1995 to have the first pick in the draft, and lost a tiebreaker to the Chiefs in 2013 to get the first pick.

It certainly does not mean we won't be bad enough in the future, including this year.

Yeah I have appreciated the NFL rewind.  Re-watching has taken some of the emotion out of it.  Minshew played great for a rookie with limited reps.  It will come down to how hard he works and how much practice they are allowed this year.  This team isn't picking number 1 overall.  Hasn't happened through the team's history.  Even though we have been very, very, bad we are always okay enough to avoid pick number 1.

Honestly I was listening to around the league podcast again but after 5 episodes had to eject again.  Really, really tired of NY and CA media bias.  Does that mean they have the Jaguars all wrong?  Nah just tired of how much they don't pay attention to the Jaguars.

Lol what have the Jaguars done besides to make anyone outside of the fanbase pay attention to them? The last decade of Jaguars football was abysmal.

This season will undoubtably be a tough one with respect to wins and losses. It's hard to imagine a team with so many rookies along with a very inexperienced quarterback could be successful. I do believe, however, that this team has a good chance to be successful beginning in the 2021-22 season. I am admittedly very biased and tend to be optimistic about the team despite it's dreadful performance over the past decade and a half. The following current players will form the nucleus of the "new and improved" Jaguars:

Gardner Minshew- He can be very good and if he's not substitute the name Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields.

D.J. Chark

"Viska" Shenault- If he stays healthy, he'll become the 2nd most popular player on the team.

Cam Robinson- Assuming he stays healthy, I haven't given up on him. He can become a top 10 left tackle.

Josh Oliver- No tangible reason to include him, but I believe he will prove Caldwell right once he gets on the field.

Ben Bartsh- Will become a very good guard in 2021.

Dee Dee Westbrook- A very solid slot receiver.

Will Richardson- Once he can focus on one position (guard), he will be above average.

Josh Allen- Definite perennial pro-bowler.

Chaisson- Will become a great outside linebacker in the 3-4 teaming with Allen.

Joe Schobert- Should be very productive for another 3-4 years.

Davon Hamilton- Will be starting nose tackle for a long-time.

Myles Jack- Should show much improvement at more natural position.

C.J. Henderson- Should develop into shut-down corner.

Add to this nucleus a likely 3 first rounders next season (eventually we'll get a top pick for Ngakwoe from a desperate contending team that needs a pass rusher) as well as a couple other high picks (2nd and 3rd round) plus a couple of free agents at positions of need and the future CAN certainly be bright. Other positive factors are the salary cap situation will be much better now that they've gotten rid of Ramsey, Dareus, Bouye, Campbell, Lee, Foles and eventually Yannick and Fournette. In addition to this, the locker room distractions should be minimal and the team is now loaded with very high character players who also have talent. Certainly, not every player mentioned above will reach my lofty expectations, but I believe enough will to predict that the 2021-22 Jaguars will win the AFC South and the team will remain very strong for a minimum of another 3 years due to the youth of the overall roster.

That's all for now as I need to leave for my appointment with my psychiatrist (I'm sure many of you believe I need one after reading this post)!
