It wouldn't surprise me in the least either.

Quote:The media will try to milk every ounce of this story.  Getting plenty of public reaction from people who are fans would be another way for the media to accomplish their objectives.

But how many fans will want to talk? It might be hard because many of them are against gays and don't think it is good to have a gay NFL player.

Some of those fans will be willing to talk.   The media is going to have a field day with this.

I'm not against gays but I don't agree with the lifestyle. Is it wrong to be somewhat uncomfortable around gays? It seems that is the new taboo.

I respect where you are coming from.

IMO,  it's one of the new taboos.

Yes it is. You should feel comfortable around all kinds of people. You don't have to like them, but you do have to respect and accept them.

I don't think anyone is bad just for disagreeing with the gay community. What I have an issues with are prejudice and discrimination.

Congrats to the kid for being brave enough to come out  and all that stuff, If he falls far enough in the draft I'd think about drafting him but I dont believe hes worth more than say a 4th or more so a 5th. Just my take either way,

Everybody can forget about him being an activist during his rookie season.

That is where people are saying he will go, fourth or fifth. So I am thinking he will still be available the second time we are on the clock in Round 4.

Even in the 4th im still not sure, it all depends on how the rest of our draft has turned out thus far if i would pick him. Of course that isnt my job so who knows... Either way If we do end up wth him i hope he plays like a beast!

Nothing I read about him as a football player stands out at me. Draft analysts are saying he is too small to be a DE and too stiff to be an OLB.

Maybe you should watch his games instead.  http://draftbreakdown.com/players/michael-sam/

From Peter King:

Quote:Two team reps didn’t know the story when we spoke, with me not naming names and simply asking what would happen if, as I expected, a gay player would be coming out before the combine. One GM said he’d heard that Sam might be the player. But the fourth, a general manager, said he not only knew the story and that Sam was the player, but that his team had discussed it at draft meetings in the past few days.

“We talked about it this week,” the GM said. “First of all, we don’t think he’s a very good player. The reality is he’s an overrated football player in our estimation. Second: He’s going to have expectations about where he should be drafted, and I think he’ll be disappointed. He’s not going to get drafted where he thinks he should.

Come draft day Sam may fall. But it won't be for the reasons some will think.

I was about to post the same type of response.

I respect all LGBT people because my parents and my pastor expects that from me and was taught that from my beginnings.

I still have a right to not agree with their lifestyle or be comfortable around them, but they will have my utmost respect.

Quote:Yes it is. You should feel comfortable around all kinds of people. You don't have to like them, but you do have to respect and accept them.

So for kicks and giggles, how can you make someone feel comfortable around people they are uncomfortable with?

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Its understandable.

I work in an environment that features a demographic of about 70% females, 20% homosexuals and 10% straight men. No lie.

It took some time getting used to but after getting to know your work buddies you realize that they are all normal regular people that just have different attractions, which after thinking about it, it's is OK with me and its not my place to judge a persons lifestyle (not saying you are). People are different. The world would be much more boring if we were all the same.

Homosexuality has become a lot more accepted in today's world even going back just 20 years ago, especially around young people. There was a YouTube video that was floating around that demonstrates just that.
