2020 Most improved players
|
I'm at work but ill give mine in a few. Who do yall think will be this years most improved players on offense and defense. Could give just one if you want or you're top 2 or 3 for each side of the ball if you would like also. Just curious to see what you guys think. Last year on offense it was Chark and on defense it was Herndon. Who are your 2020 most improved player candidates?

Offense:
Gardner Minshew - I expect him to take a colossal step forward in this offense with Gruden and McAdoo involved in 2020. Game should slow down. He should be getting all of the first team looks and reps. DeDe Westbrook - I think with Chark and Cheanault getting the attention that he'll have a chance to make a killing as the third wheel this year. I expect him to be sneaky good at times in 2020. Jawuan Taylor - Penalties were an issue last year for him. But I think he'll settle down in year two and ultimately shine as our best offensive lineman in 2020. Defense: Myles Jack - Moving him back outside will be the best thing that could have happened for this defense. I expect better run defense and more splash plays on that side of the football field again. Josh Allen - Already coming off an impressive rookie season. I see him picking up right where he left off and I see him being one of the premier pass rushers on an elite level in 2020. Ronnie Harrison - It's year three for him. I think if he can stay healthy he'll improve. Especially with better play from the front seven and less worry about having to mop up in the ground game. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? On offense I'll go with Minshew, Robinson, and Taylor. They all go hand in hand. The better the OL does, the better the QB will do. The better the QB does, the better the OL will look.
Robinson fully recovered from ACL and given quite the vote of confidence by the team (not drafting or signing a LT) will become the LT he was drafted to be and showed some signs of being as a rookie. Taylor actually showed quite a bit of growth during his rookie year. He was flat out bad early in the year and improved greatly as the year wore on. Look for a big jump from this young man. Minshew showed magic last year in late game heroics and comebacks. However much of this was needed due to ineffectiveness early on in games. Some of that had to do with a lack of protection from the OL. At times he just held the ball too long and wasn't seeing the field clearly. I'm not saying he's going to have an all-pro type season. But he'll improve to the point where fans will stop talking about #1 overall pick and needing some QB from Clemson. On defense Myles Jack, Taven Bryan, Harrison. Jack being moved from the mike will help him a lot and we'll see more of what flashed from him as a rookie. Taven Bryan actually showed up last year and was quietly a solid contributor. He'll never warrant being a first rounder probably but we'll be pleasantly surprised by his play this year I think. Harrison in year 3 becomes a pro bowl safety, imo. He was good as a rookie, probably should have supplanted Church sooner. Last year he didn't get to shine with the defense in flux but was still very solid. This year he makes a leap.
Nick Foles, AJ Bouye, Calais Campbell, and Marcell Darius.
I think they will all benefit by being on other teams. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! (05-01-2020, 09:48 AM)HURRICANE!!! I look at the offense and see lots of potential breakout players, which is a pleasant change. I will throw out Oliver, Richardson and Ozigbo to be different. Obviously hoping Minshew is the main one.
I think Jack will have an excellent year on defense, and I think Allen could become a star. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Minshew would be too easy. On offense, i'm gonna say Taylor at RT. He started making strides late in the season and looked like a world beater in that Raiders game.
Defense? Ill save Taven Bryan. I want to believe it will finally come together for him and technique/sheer skill will finally make him a complete defender. “Motivation alone is not enough. If you have an idiot and you motivate him,now you have a motivated idiot.” Jim Rohn
We have such a young and inexperienced team that almost the entire roster is a candidate for most improved player next year. Our success will, once again, depend on how many of them can step up quickly to be reliable contributors to this team.
I think a good place to start would be the first two picks from last year's draft. If Allen and Taylor can improve, that instantly gives us a big boost. Minshew is, of course, the obvious one.
Offense
Minshew Conley - Still think he is better than Westbrook. Had his best season with a rookie QB. With a better Minshew we get a better Conley. Taylor Defense Josh Allen I hope Taven Bryan I am a fan, not a cheerleader.
Minshew is going to have so much more confidence in his reads. Chark has become a legit WR pro and knows what it takes to get 1,000 yards and 10 TDs.
But most of all, I’m going with Fournette. He has some bangers and then he will pull a Zeke and get you 47 yards. Fournette hopefully shows up with a chip on his shoulder. Oliver will be used like Jordan Reed up in Washington. The kid has all the tools needed to be a Pro Bowl type TE. He’s better than OJ Howard who a lot of members wanted. Eifert will help him out more than ever. Taylor at RT will be a year better. Over on defense Allen is a super star in the making. So he could get us 14-16 this year. Bryan will be a year better and stronger. This team will scrap there way to 7 wins somehow. Long shot for the playoffs but it all rides on the QB. Minshew Mania will Benin full force ALL year long.kid has a little Tebow/Gannon/Mayfield/Shaun King I’m him. I compare him more to Rich Gannon more than anyone. I always feel weird about these projections because some of the guys that "improve" don't necessarily improve as much as simply gain opportunity they didn't previously have.
Westbrook may benefit from Gruden's ability to utilize his skill set more wisely (I said this last year and it didn't happen as he got stuck running F-TE routes often after Oliver went down - bad decision by DeFilippo IMO) Oliver may benefit from general health and time to build QB chemistry. Minshew may take a step forward in his on-script, in-the-pocket playmaking if the O-Line gives him that opportunity. Defensively: Jack may excel at a spot requiring less pre-snap analysis. Allen may validate speculation he's a future all-pro Harrison may turn flashes of ball-hawk ability into something more consistent.
I expect improvement from both Fournette and Yan. They both have a ton to prove and if they improve, they will get big deals next year. If not then they won't. I expect both to have their best year as a pro.

Dawuane Smoot : he only played 38% of the snaps last season, with 6 sacks and 6 TFL.
He is also in the last year of his contract. Jaguars were basically the youngest NFL in 2019 and based on the offseason turnover, could be close to it again. On top of that, the Jaguars were one of the unluckiest in starters games lost last season as well. Just based on those two things, it's hard to figure out which players will have it click for them and/or respond after injuries. https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-a...fl-rosters https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-a...ost-part-i (05-03-2020, 02:56 AM)MikePete54 Wrote: Dawuane Smoot : he only played 38% of the snaps last season, with 6 sacks and 6 TFL. This is an interesting one, because it's hard to see a path for him to get more snaps. He split time between DE and DT last year. I think rotation at 3 tech w/ Bryan is his best option to get playing time this season. (unless Ngakoue doesn't play) |
