Garoppolo
|
Hey guys.. Still getting my feet wet on this message board, but huge fan!
Anyways I was wondering what some of your views on Garoppolo are. I would love to see us go defensive in the first two rounds.. possibly trade down if Clowney is not available and grab Barr then add another DE/OLB in the 2nd round to help build up our defense. After that either trade up/ pray that Garoppolo is available. I think it would be good; we can resign Henne and let him take some hits behind our rebuilding O-line while we draft/develop our line and our QB. We aren't really hoping for playoffs next year and a .500 record would even be mind blowing. So we could take a year getting Garoppolo used to the spead of the NFL and seeing what he can do. I see this as a low risk/ high reward potential.. What do you guys think? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Needs some work. Should be available at the middle to tail end of third or fourth. Lightning quick release is what I like. Good athlete and decent size. He is one of my favorites for a middle round qb candidate.

I think Garoppolo is okay, and the scenario you layer out would be sweet, but I'm not entirely sure how I'd feel about having to watch Henne play another year. =/
I loved Garoppolo 3 months ago when no one knew about him and he was still a day 3 pick. Now that he is a likely 2nd or 3rd rounder I can't get behind picking him. His upside just doesn't get the juices flowing. QB purgatory ceiling IMO.

I like a lot about him.. same as you liked him then.. but he is gaining momentum and I worry that his potential could end up being a Bengals like deal with Dalton.. Quote:Hey guys.. Still getting my feet wet on this message board, but huge fan!Stop drafting scared and looking for the next alex smith just get the qb with the number 3 pick and get over it. Just because the top qb's are a once in a generation qb like andrew luck that doesn't mean they're not any good. I stop reading when you say stay with chad henne another year. ![]()
I scouted him against northern Illinois. Really wanted to get excited, just couldn't.

I believe he's nothing more than a game manager in the NFL.

The good thing is that our coaching staff got to coachem up for a week, so they know as good as anybody if he's draft able.

That upside is fine if you're taking them in the 4th or 5th round, but in the 2nd round it's not worth it.

Quote:So you're a QB hipster?Haha...I guess so. I just don't deem QB purgatory to be good value on day 2. On day 3, by all means draft the hell out of those mid level ceiling starters and try to trade them for profit to QB needy teams a couple years down the road.

Because we heard that same thing about guys like Ryan Nassib and Matt Scott and they went right where they were initially projected. Just because fans and NFL media hype a QB does not mean NFL teams are going to grade him any higher.

And what you say makes no sense anyway. Why did you "love" Garappolo 3 months ago if his ceiling is your coined term QB "purgatory"? Why even draft him at all? Even as a day 3 pick, it's a waste of a pick if you think his CEILING is QB purgatory.

I personally don't think he's a 2nd round pick. 3rd maybe, if a team falls in love with him.
It's not like he lit up the Senior Bowl. And even on the East-West shrine game, although he was the best QB there, he threw some head scratchers that made you say "hmm"...

Yeah, because that works so many times in the real world. Plus, we're not really in position to be drafting players just to "showcase them" and then trade them to QB needy teams. Our first goal, which we haven't been able to achieve in many years, is actually getting a QB ourselves.
