Garoppolo

Quote:Actually a lot of people knew about him 3 months ago, stop patting yourself on the back.QB purgatory just means a mid level starting QB. Getting a mid level starting QB in the 4th round or later is really good value. Getting it before that doesn't move the needle for me. We show less advertisements to registered users. I'll be overjoyed with him in the 4th. 3rd? Not as much but I'd be OK with it. 2nd? No way did he show he's worth that.

With the all-star games, Garoppolo played himself into the 2nd or 3rd round according to the broadcast analysts and Jeremiah, the former scout, covering the Senior Bowl. If the Jags elect not to take a QB in the 1st or 2nd round, I would be an advocate to see this guy picked up with the early 3rd round pick. I would rather see a developing rookie with some possibility than Henne at QB.

I would also be OK with drafting Tajh Boyd in the later rounds. He reminds me a little of Garrard. Thick, can run, but is not a consistent passer. Give him some time to learn like Garrard had and we could have a solid QB.

Never been a fan of Garopollo, and don't really see what everyone else sees in him. Then again... I never liked Matt Scott much either.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I think as of right now his ceiling is that of Dalton's. Can get you to the playoffs but not elite. I think with some work he could possibly be better than Dalton. Heck if we can get a Dalton type QB in the fourth im fine. Anything is better than Ghenne

A QBs ability to run is nice, but secondary to his overall throwing competencies. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I like him in the late fourth - but I don't get the impression he's Caldwell's guy. And that's OK with me. There are a few guys I definitely like better.
I see why people want to compare him to Gabbert - but I think it's a really flimsy comparison. He stood tall in the pocket with pressure many times in the cut-ups I watched. That outweighs two or three plays that display poor reaction to pressure in my book. Quote:After watching his inconsistency as a passer, I would not use any draft pick on Tajh Boyd. A QBs ability to run is nice, but secondary to his overall throwing competencies. You're telling me that nothing could prompt you to take a late-round flier on a three-year starter who improved every year at an ACC school and has the physical skills needed to be an NFL QB? I'd take Boyd in the fifth round in a heartbeat, because those physical skills can't be taught. The mental skills sometimes can and sometimes can't, but with a fifth-round pick, you've got the luxury of time. You've also got the luxury of knowing that virtually anyone you choose there (aside from kickers and punters, maybe) has a much better chance of bouncing around practice squads for a few years before going into timeshare sales than they do of becoming an NFL starter. All that being said, Boyd is the kind of player who's going to be overdrafted on measurables. Anyone remember Marques Tuiasosopo? You know, before the whole Manti Te'o thing? Boyd reminds me a lot of Tuiasosopo, and Tuiasosopo had no business going before the fourth round. None whatsoever, but the Raiders jumped in and drafted him in the second round because of his measurables. He accomplished very little in the NFL, certainly nothing worth his draft status. Garoppolo, on the other hand, seems like he's on the other end of the spectrum. He seems like the type who should be (and will be) drafted in the fourth or fifth round, despite his being talked up now as a third-round pick or earlier. If he lasts until the fifth round and the Jaguars do draft two QBs, why not? You could do a lot worse for a developmental backup than Garoppolo or Boyd. But if we're talking about an early-round pick, thanks, but I'll pass. Quote:QB purgatory just means a mid level starting QB. I would love to see the Jaguars take two QBs if they take one at the top of the first and I would love for Jimmy G to have been that 2nd guy they took later in the draft. Teddy in the first and someone like Jimmy in the 4th. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Hey guys.. Still getting my feet wet on this message board, but huge fan!I like this, save the Barr pick, I'd rather Mack, then Dee Ford in the 2nd if he's still there. Wouldn't mind Henne starting the season after being more comfortable in Fisch's offense, throwing the rook in under fire in the case Henne looks bad to awful.
