Of note, Vince Lombardi's brother was gay.  Because of that Lombardi demanded a homophobia-free locker room.  Jerry Smith was also a gay player who played for Lombardi, as was David Kopay.  In fact Kopay and Smith had a relationship.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Society in general is more accepting toward LGBT people than it was 50 years ago, so it does not take another Vince Lombardi to make grown men respect a gay teammate. But I agree it can help if a coach is tough on that crap.

I totally understand the difference.  I also know that someone that expresses their views like you have here will discriminate in some way against people that go against your views.

You don't know a thing about me. Also I still don't think you understand what discriminate means. If I was an employer, for example, I would be bound to certain state and federal non-discrimination laws. Also, it would strongly bother me to not consider a person for a job on the basis of their sexuality. That's not me regardless of what the law says. So lets get that out of the way. Now if you mean discriminative in terms of preference toward something, maybe. Another example. There is a local restaurant downtown owned by two gay guys. They have a menu loaded with sexual innuendo. Items appear such as [BLEEP] brownies, tossed salad, sticks and balls, etc etc. Would I go there? Hell no. Why. I'm just not feeling that, new age my [BAD WORD REMOVED].

Why do you care what someone does with another adult? They don't care what you have to say to your kid. Adapt and overcome or just teach your kid to be a backward douche. In the end, you will just put your kid in a position of not being equipped to deal with the reality of things.

The reality is some people are attractive and others are not regardless of their sex preference. People tell me I am pretty. Does that mean I can't be a lesbian? (I am not one but I would rather look at pretty girls than cute boys.)

In addition, he talked about training teams how to deal with a gay teammate to make sure it does not cause problems in locker rooms or anywhere else.

Roger Goodell is not just saying the right things to avoid backlash. There really is an anti-LGBT discrimination policy, which he is responsible for enforcing.

Whether you think he deserved it or not, dude was still SEC defensive player of the year. If the SEC is the best conference in college football (most believe it is), that's not exactly going against "crap talent."
