He was a player who had been arrested in 1968 for having sex with a man in public. He was trying to make Lombardi's Redskins in 1969. Vince heard a couple coaches joking about him being gay. He told RB coach, George Dickson, "I want you to get on McDonald and work on him and work on him and if I hear one of you people make reference to his manhood, you'll be out of here before your <behind> hits the ground."
Poof! The issue went away. If you have a respectable coach who sets the tone of acceptable team behavior, its a non issue.
Only a chump boos the home team!
Of note, Vince Lombardi's brother was gay. Because of that Lombardi demanded a homophobia-free locker room. Jerry Smith was also a gay player who played for Lombardi, as was David Kopay. In fact Kopay and Smith had a relationship.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Society in general is more accepting toward LGBT people than it was 50 years ago, so it does not take another Vince Lombardi to make grown men respect a gay teammate. But I agree it can help if a coach is tough on that crap.
Quote:Yes. I would. Because it's NOT NORMAL. No but its pathetic that you would worry about what 2 consenting adults do in the private. Quote:Just to be different, Bortles.
Quote:I totally understand the difference. I also know that someone that expresses their views like you have here will discriminate in some way against people that go against your views. You don't know a thing about me. Also I still don't think you understand what discriminate means. If I was an employer, for example, I would be bound to certain state and federal non-discrimination laws. Also, it would strongly bother me to not consider a person for a job on the basis of their sexuality. That's not me regardless of what the law says. So lets get that out of the way. Now if you mean discriminative in terms of preference toward something, maybe. Another example. There is a local restaurant downtown owned by two gay guys. They have a menu loaded with sexual innuendo. Items appear such as [BLEEP] brownies, tossed salad, sticks and balls, etc etc. Would I go there? Hell no. Why. I'm just not feeling that, new age my [BAD WORD REMOVED]. Quote:How do I tell my five year and six year old boys to ignore two men kissing or holding hands in the mall? Even they think it's 'yucky'.Why do you care what someone does with another adult? They don't care what you have to say to your kid. Adapt and overcome or just teach your kid to be a backward douche. In the end, you will just put your kid in a position of not being equipped to deal with the reality of things. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:What does that have to do with anything? Proof?
Back to the topic: Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed his support of Michael Sam's decision to come out and said the NFL has an anti-LGBT discrimination policy. In addition, he talked about training teams how to deal with a gay teammate to make sure it does not cause problems in locker rooms or anywhere else.

And if he did the politically incorrect thing he'd be get creamed. Quote:No but its pathetic that you would worry about what 2 consenting adults do in the private.I was giving my opinion on the matter. That's what this board is for. Who says I worry about anyone? Quote:I think Bridgewater at 3 is better value than Mack at 3, yes. <div> LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Clown. </div>
Quote:And if he did the politically incorrect thing he'd be get creamed. Roger Goodell is not just saying the right things to avoid backlash. There really is an anti-LGBT discrimination policy, which he is responsible for enforcing.
I hope the kid does well and becomes accepted in the NFL. But look at his stats this year...all the sacks against crap talent. He does have a great motor, but I'd give this guy a 5th-6th round grade. Possibly a good backup.
BORTLES ISN'T A FRANCHISE QB. FOURNETTE WILL BE A BUST.

Whether you think he deserved it or not, dude was still SEC defensive player of the year. If the SEC is the best conference in college football (most believe it is), that's not exactly going against "crap talent."
