Soccer is the most non-entertaining sport I've ever watched

Quote:Sure it can. You're talking genes. It affects everyone. If Theo Walcott was 6' 4'', 240, he wouldn't be playing soccer. His genes dictated another sport. Tim Howard is 6'3 and over 200 lbs We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Yeah too bad it only took 2 hrs before someone finally scored. That game was more exciting than most American football games I have ever watched. Quote:Tim Howard is 6'3 and over 200 lbsDanny Woodhead is 5'8'' and listed at "200". Wes Welker is 5'9'' 185.

There is more range in what soccer players can and cant do in terms of size and athleticism. You can be a great soccer player without being a great athlete. To play in the NFL, you have to conform to certain body types based on your position. Quote:Just to be different, Bortles.

Quote:<a>"Soccer appeals to the average and to the below average. Thus, it has an instant constituency for its popularity. Too weak or slow to play football? Participate in soccer. Too short or slow to play basketball? Participate in soccer. Lack the hand-eye coordination necessary to hit a baseball or the agility to stickhandle thru traffic? Participate in soccer. Lack basic motor skills? Participate in soccer."</a> Fat, slow tub of lard? Maybe soccer isn't for you. And now that the OP thinks soccer is boring, I shall stop watching it forever. And his opinion shall now carry more weight than the impossibly large amount it always has on this most important forum. Quote:Fat, slow tub of lard? Whenever I see a thread and posts complaining about soccer, I wonder if someone is forcing them to watch, ala: ![]()

Quote:Even with the commercial breaks football is more entertaining than soccer. People have different preferences, which is fine. My father in law likes to watch golf on TV every weekend. I'd rather jump in the pool holding a plugged in toaster.

I love the Simpsons!!!! On a side note though, I love soccer and could watch it all day, but, I do understand why people do not like it. Heck, I love watching baseball and golf too, so I guess my opinion holds little weight over whether it is boring.

If the US men's team was better, more Americans would like soccer. The men's team is good but nowhere close to countries like Spain, Brazil and The Netherlands. And that makes alot of people lose interest. They think American should be the best at everything.

I remember the 94 team, we are light years ahead of that group in just one generation. It'll be interesting to see how we do this summer.
I have to admit, I've been watching a lot of curling during the Olympics. Swiffer should sponsor a team.

I can remember back in the 70's hearing how soccer would sweep the nation. It was at the same time that the news agencies and the government was touting metric over the English System of Measurement. Obviously the metric system has yet to gain a foothold in America and soccer is not faring much better. With that said I can't figure out why soccer is being pushed so hard for American citizens to accept. I like what I like and soccer isn't it. Let the fastest guy on a team race down the field at full speed to challenge the goalie one on one and I might give it a chance. This crap of you have to wait for the defenders to be in place is a bunch of hooey! And for the love of heaven, quit telling me I am unsophisticated for not liking this game.

At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.

The metric is clearly better than the imperial system. But if people have been using the imperial system since they were born it's kinda hard to break them out of it. Especially when they're unsophisticated like you. |
