Chaisson

I've been wanting to say this like a dozen times lol. People get so worked up about what would look pretty similar if we did technically switch.

He is a much better pass rusher when he has room to use his speed, instead of being lined up directly over an OT, who can just reach out and grab him. Once that happens, Chaisson gets hung up and is neutralized. It would be much better for his career, if he could either be on a team that uses the 3-4 heavily or where he is used as a situational pass rusher only when the 3-4 is implemented.

It's called the 9 technique and is used in both a 3-4 or 4-3 (not nearly as much in 4-3 though, Jim Schwartz is famous for running it). But the point still remains, ya'll getting way too caught up in "3-4 or 4-3". We just need better coaches who put their players in better positions to succeed.
Speaking of Schwartz. It seems he’s out in Philly.

Caldwell is to blame in my opinion for KC slow development. If all the pieces that were here last year were still here the depth of knowledge and talent would have been a huge advantage for accelerating his career. That being said maybe let him have another year or two before we run him out, 2020 season is a hard thing to measure, truthfully any small marked improvement should be considered mountainous with the way the season played out and with how incompetent this coaching staff is

He's taking a year off to contemplate retirement or return, he's had health issues. I wouldn't wait for him to rescue your D.

I like what I've seen of him in the last few games. He started slowly but seeing progress makes me a little bit optimistic for next season.

Historically - DE career stat logs are replete with pass rushers who didn't make impact in year one and sometimes year two, but went on to rack up sacks and pressures for the rest of their rookie deal and beyond.

Still plenty of hope for Chaisson. Development is a real thing.

Exactly. Not everyone can be Chase Young.

Or the Watt's...or the Bosa's...I think rookie DE have been making earlier and earlier impacts.

He actually did better than Derek Watt this year.

Josh Allen struggled as well this year after a dominant rookie season. We desperately need an interior pass rush.

Did not go unnoticed.

To add to the thread, Jerry Hughes was a bust until he wasn't.

It's almost as if some guys need time to develop... Who could have thought.

The best part is you can tell he wants to get better. He is willing to seek help and advise from anyone willing to help him.

He definitely had his best game of the year on week 17.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

He was 100% better the last quarter of the season.

Chaisson is going to get it. He has a winnable skill set
1. Athletic as hell
2. Measurables out the wazoo
———— and most important
3. Incredible work ethic. He wants it

He has things you can’t teach, and wants to work at the things you can coach: technique, pass rush moves, and experience. Put all that together and you’re looking at a guy who will POP. I wasn’t high on Chaisson, but after seeing how much he improved in the last quarter of the season, I have no doubt about his future. Allen + Chaisson will be a duo

He will start getting those sacks.

Ofcourse. He’s flashed towards the end of the season. If we can give him some help those pressures will become sacks.

Yes, I agree.  And in my opinion, the kind of help Allen and Chaisson need is pressure up the middle.  That's why a lot of mock drafts have us taking a 3-tech with our second first round pick.

If we blitzed some that also helps open up #45 and 41. That puts pressure on the oline. A good d coach needed with a good scheme
