I think it’s a good chance you see Smith sit out a year and take some time with his family and then if all is going well for Urban then you will see Smith here next season as a Assistant QB coach or similar.

As for the other conversations on this post. I think players that mentor other players is not a myth. It happens all the time as it does in every job/sport in the world. Also, a mentor doesn’t have to outright say “I am a mentor” it might be that they are a role model to other players, which is just another way of being a mentor.

On Minshew, I just have this weird feeling we will trade him with Washington to move up in Round 1 to get a OT.

I'm actually not sure I want Alex Smith as the QB coach. Great guy but I think for someone like Trevor Lawrence you need Peyton Manning or Dave Cutliffe giving him advice.
