ON TOPIC:   It seems most agree that Gus and company would have to have an epically bad season in 2014 and possibly another to be terminated.   

 

Since many of us think he'll be here in 2015 again.  What would have to happen in that season for him to be gone?  

 

 - under .500 ?

 - worse than 5-11 ?

 - missing playoffs ?

Silly? Absolutely. The team showed improvement late last season, assuring that Gus is safe. I don't expect regression at this point as everything indicates the opposite.

I agree that the team improved and don't EXPECT regression either, but expectations are not the same as results and there has to be a minimum standard of what is expected next year or jobs are on the line. What people think that minimum standard is or should be is a perfectly reasonable and intelligent discussion topic and not in any way 'silly' or something that only 'they' (presumably the silly people who are beneath the great FBT) should take part in.

Interesting. Obviously it would be dependent on what the 2014 record was too, so if by a bizarre quirk of fate we have a 10 win season next year, he probably gets himself a new contract based on that alone.

 

I would say unless we have hit AT LEAST 18 wins in 3 years, there are going to be some seriously hot seats around.

I don't know what the benchmark would be. I'd assume that improvement over 2014 would be a given. I'm guessing that Khan, Caldwell and Bradley have an agreed-upon roadmap, and if the team deviates dramatically from that map in a bad way, you'd probably see some heads roll.

I didn't say it was reasonable either.  I think suggesting Bradley's job is at risk this year is genuinely silly because it's not.  If his job is in jeopardy, so is Caldwell's a year in.  At this point it's ridiculous to suggest that either is in any danger of being fired.  Based on what we've seen so far, it's more realistic to expect the improvement to continue.  The only thing that could hamper that is if the team regresses as a result of serious injuries to key players, which I seriously doubt would cost either their job.

You are basing your idea on Gus Bradley's job being safe on continuous progression like its a cast iron fact we will get better, but progression next year is not guaranteed. I too think there will be continued progression and the chance of Bradley losing his job is thinner than Kate Moss after a sauna session, but it isn't certain is it? There are still expectations, and with expectations come the chance of failure. What those minimum expectations are is a very valid talking point.

Gus Bradley is a heck of a coach and very well respected around the league. It wouldn't matter who the coach is, until we can get a quarterback and talent around him we're going to be a 4-5 win team every year.

If GM Dave works magic as many hope in this years draft, Gus will have more talent to work with this season but if he pulls out only 4 wins against poor teams I'm sure the owner will fire Gus & who knows maybe David too.
