More of a location thing also as most in the northeast have always voted democrat. Same thing happens with "catholics". Most of the religious democrat voters haven't been in a church or synagogue in years or only show up 1 or 2 times a year.

The main issue was the poor jews who immigrated were the orthodox and conservative. They then joined the union push and all primarily were in the NE. This set them up to blindly voting for democrats even though they matched the European leaders beliefs that they escaped from. Now the orthodox are largely moving to voting for conservatives. It could be that most of the russian jews were the last to migrate and suffered through communism the longest.
