Johnny Football

Quote:This Tarkenton would of done just fine in todays game.  Back in them days there were no where near the rules on the QB there are now.  You can barely touch a QB these days.  If Tarkenton was around today he would put up better numbers than he did back then.  The rules favor the QB's way more today then they did back then, I thought that was obvious, guess not.

It's not about his passing stats or how he's protected in the pocket. 3-4 defenses and freak athletes like Von Miller, Aldon Smith, and Clay Matthews didn't exist in his era. You can't run around like a headless chicken ala Tark or Archie Manning in today's NFL and be consistently successful. Defenses are far too fast now.

the closest qb to tarkenton the last ten years was jeff garcia and he did fine. he had a decent career, and tarkenton seems to have better mobility and instinct than garcia. i think tarkenton would do as good as garcia did if not better in this generation.

Yes, Manziel is not nearly as good as Tark was. Jeff Garcia is much closer to that skill level. He would be my favorite comp for Johnny honestly.

As the kid who learned who Hall-of-Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton was yesterday, I don't really care about your opinions re: Tark.

Pretty sure Super Humans are only super human if they're at least 6'1

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

By the time Johnny Football is finished with the NFL 5'11 will be considered too tall.

Because he won't be able to see over their heads to throw the ball if they're that tall?

At this point in their careers, Manziel is light years ahead of Tarkenton.

Quote:Manziel not even close to the potential of Bridgewater. Have you seen Bridgewater play? He stays in the pocket, goes through his progressions, moves in pocket to gain time.

Manziel gains time by getting out of the pocket and creating time. That doesn't work in the NFL. A lot of is big time plays are being a great athlete at this level. He isn't close to the pocket passer of Bridgewater.
Fran Tarkenton much?

He's interesting to watch sometimes but Mike Evans is his savior.

He should have like 6 INTs in this game.

In this chicken (Manziel) and egg (Evans) conversation, the egg definitely came first. Evans is so friggin amazing...jaw dropping plays like it's nothing. Johnny is a good college QB but very little of what he does translates to the NFL.

Manziel is going to get absolutely DEMOLISHED in the NFL

....Just took a game ending QB sack on a 4th and 13. Inexcusable.

I don't want this guy.

shouldve been a horsecollar but he had his chances. qb prospects failing to win this week lol

Those last two plays are reminiscent of what Johnny's career will be in the NFL.  Metaphoric, if you will.
