I think Garoppolo is the guy.

Something about him screams franchise QB, also that lightning quick release is flat out impressive.

He's very limited in the throws he can make and I have déja-vu with his handling of pressure.

McCarron is far better. He has more elite qualities than any other quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck.

I get the feeling that's going to be our pick in round 3 and personally I'm happy with that

I thought accuracy (especially deep accuracy) and pocket management were elite qualities, he doesn't have those.

McCarron is a game manager that benefitted playing on a stacked team. He'll be a decent backup at best. As a starter, if he throws downfield, he'll be a jugs machine pitching pick-six balls. No thanks.

While I agree with this for now, I think he's a kid who could benefit from being on this roster behind Henne for a season so he can be developed.  There looks to be a lot of potential, and if we could get him later in the draft, that would give us an opportunity to use the picks in the first two rounds to address the pass rush, and possibly to bolster the offensive line.

If we draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round, my concern is that there will be a sense of urgency in getting that guy on the field, and we'll end up in a situation where we're dealing with Gabbert 2.0.  We don't need to draft another guy only to turn him into damaged goods.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Well, yeah Alabama is the closest thing to an NFL team there is. The funniest joke in the SEC is Bama could beat the Jaguars. That was until the point spread favored the Jaguars by 24.

McCarron won't be landing on a stacked team, but the Jaguars are better than any Alabama roster, for sure. All quarterbacks are game managers. That's a credit, not a liability. Bart Starr game managed Green Bay to five NFL Titles.

And somehow they lost to Auburn and Oklahoma.

Stunning.

They got crushed by Oklahoma.... I guess that AJ "Elite" McCarron couldn't hang with the big boys of Oklahoma.

Ive never bought into this idea that we ruined Gabbert. I think his skills show that he never would have made it anywhere as more than a backup.

Plenty of QBs start right away in bad situations. Cam Newton is one I can think of.

The best player should play regardless of experience/age. Imo. If it takes a few weeks or years to be better than Henne, so be it.

Yep. He was who he was. A year on the sideline really would not have changed anything.

Garoppolo hands are very small like Bridgewater.   He's a 5th to 7th rounder.

People said the same thing about Matt Scott last year.

I prefer McCarron to Garapollo as well.  Though I don't think he's 'elite'.  Honestly ideally Bortles would drop to round 2, and he'd be our guy.  But that'll never happen.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I agree with this,

Blaine Gabbert was never good to begin with, incredibly inconsistent at Missouri and lacked the production 16 TD's 9 Ints as a junior you'd normally get from a 1st round QB. Scouts fell in love with his measurables and seemingly ignored the fact that this guy couldn't play.

Bill Polian projects Garoppolo as a 1st round pick, Dane Brugler of CBS Sports recently tweeted there has been 1st round talk amongst NFL circles in regards to Jimmy Garoppolo, realistically he goes somewhere in the mid to late 2nd round.
