The Texans are THAT bad.

I agree this first game will tell a whole lot of how the season will go.

Kinda like last year?

If we can concentrate on stopping the run and make Tyrod Taylor beat us through the air, we should be o.k. We just need to make sure we have 2 guys on Brandin Cooks. He's basically their only receiver whose worth anything. We also need to keep an eye on Phillip Lindsey as a receiver out of the backfield. If he is on the field, our linebackers need to stay home and contain him, so he can't do any damage via screen passes. What does worry me is that Houston has a pretty decent O-Line and our pass rush has been non-existent. I'm not expecting much from us in the line of QB pressures, but we'll have to see what happens. On paper, this is the easiest game we'll have all season, so if we screw this up........................

You don't put 2 people on Cooks.  You have CJ Henderson mirror him all day.  If he starts having a problem with Cooks then give him some help.  Starting out though you have CJ follow him and see what he can do and I think he will do just fine

C.J. Henderson might currently be our best corner, but I still wouldn't put him one on one with Cooks. No way! Especially, when we still have yet to find any kind of pass rush at all.

I think some people will be surprised by this one. I'm gonna say Jags win, 34-31. I see Trevor having a nice start to his career and Robinson should look good as well. I see one long TD reception for D.J. Chark too. I think we will give up a troubling amount of yardage and big plays in the passing game though.

I know you have never liked Henderson but he is much better than you have always thought.  Cooks is a good WR but he isn't Stefon Diggs.  I'm confident Henderson can hold his own against Cooks.  You don't put 2 defenders on Cook until he proves against CJ that CJ needs the help.  I think you will be surprised by our defense week 1.  Our D is much better than last year and they ain't gonna put up 31 points

Henderson is up there talent wise close to Ramsey imo.

As others have mentioned, if our O-Line can keep T-Law up and give him ample time this game will be a cake walk.

Man, turn it down a notch. He did decent against Case Keenum and Cooper Rush, with none of OBJ/Parker/Cooper/Lamb/Gallup playing nor their olines.

He's made some huge strides toward being relevant again this last month and he deserves a lot of credit for that, but let's wait and see a bit (or a lot) before annointing him a lock down shadow corner.

I mean … it literally says “gators” in his handle and he tried to make a case for Hargreaves over Ramsey, so….

Where did I say he was a lockdown corner?  You don't have to be a lock down corner to play Cooks 1 on 1.  Cooks is a good WR but I wouldn't even say he is a top 10 WR in the league.  I also don't care what he did in preseason, CJ has always been a damn good corner and he show flashes of that last year as a rookie even though he only played half of a season.  And relevant again?  When did he become not relevant, when he got injured?  I'd also feel comfortable with Griffin on Cooks until he proves he can't cover him.  I don't think it's a good game plan to double Cooks right off the bat before he even proves our corners can't cover him.

Agreed. Jag Fan is way to patient, measured and rational about his team. Wink

There is no way this Texans team can score 30+ without Watson imo.

I can't wait for the regular season to start. I'm so tired of speculative talk. We need something to sink our teeth into.

This game is a tone setter for the Meyer regime. This game needs to be a total blowout.

I think he will do a good enough job with Cooks minus Watson. Cooks hasn't ever been the same without Drew Brees though he's still a threat.

I think if what we saw in preseason becomes the new normal for CJ, he can cover most any receiver he'll face at an above average level. We just can't assume that we are going to see 2020 week one play from him for the next 17 weeks. I hope we do! I'm just not comfortable making that assumption till we see a bigger sample of consistent play.

Watson was unbelievably annoying for the jags to play against. Maybe the jags will be the ones for once getting the happy ending

I think our defense if healthy, will surprise some people this year and our secondary will be better than most think. I think Campbell will come into his own later in the season as well
