Week 1. Jags vs Texans talk
|
Not good for Jaguars until shown or proven to be otherwise.
At least Trevor Lawrence will be playing so hopefully the team plays up and beyond their talent level! Urban Meyer and F.O and Co. better not self-sabotage.... One guy i always forget Houston have now is David Johnson. He had a great rookie year in Arizona but not done much since And they gave up Hopkins for him!!?

We are basing our opinion on watching Dewey play in the NFL and his performance thus far this year is not better than it was pre-Urbz. This isn't College where he could get by on having the best talent on the field every game. He hasn't done jack [BLEEP] in the NFL to prove to anybody that we should just take whatever he does as greatness, or anything even close to it. Suitcases of cash to high school kids' grandmas always got the job done in college. I'm sure he was shocked to find the NFL was so different. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Regardless, he’s getting a little long in the tooth. (09-08-2021, 07:52 AM)flsprtsgod Wrote:(09-08-2021, 01:00 AM)CanDoBetter Wrote: Tell me how he got to have the best talent available? He could recruit mostly anyone he wanted so he got the best ones available. You see, it's not like he recruited scrubs because he knew who the best ones were. Why do you think he wouldn't be able to identify talent at the NFL level? I’m giving Meyer every ounce of the benefit of the doubt I can. I just wonder how much the team will give him when his salesman coaching style doesn’t produce results right away. It’s going to be an interesting season to watch how everyone learns and evolves.

He is getting older but his production hasn't fell off and he is still a veteran dangerous slot guy (09-07-2021, 04:52 PM)CanDoBetter Wrote: https://twitter.com/Demetrius82/status/1...7667346434 it's not the ONLY reason possible, Meyer may also favor starting vets and working the rooks in gradually. I'm not going to call the season a waste because of who gets the nod in week 1. Winger isn't the future and everyone knows it, coaching staff included. Give it time, it will work itself out. Pretty confident in saying that if we lose Sunday, that the loss won't be something that can be pinned squarely on Winger's back, we got holes all over. Dangerous? A guy whose career high in receiving yardage is 678 yards is considered 'dangerous'?

Do you think that if Winger was such a liability they wouldn't speak up? Or that they would willingly allow their livelihood to appear subpar? I get that the HC has final say, but denying that anyone else isn't speaking to the matter is ignorance. Cripes, it's not like we cut the dude, we just said he won't be first on the field. whoop. dee. farts. Not Amendola! Why do you always say this when I make a counterpoint? As if I haven't been watching football for 30 years. The point is that Amendola shouldn't strike fear in anyone. He's average and becomes below average when he has a bad QB. If the Jags can't stop Tyrod Taylor and Amendola, they are in for a very long season. I'll start with he got a team that was already built to win (UF). I'll follow with he took jobs at places that are historically easy to recruit for (UF/anOSU) It's not like he was taking jobs at Wake or Kansas.
