Some are going out of their way to excuse Urban's follies and defending him beyond the "wait and see" position when he's clearly in the wrong. That's the white knighting that's going on. No one really believes Meyer is a good guy, they just didn't realize he's also utterly shameless and completely lacking in self-awareness and so they have to spin it to cover for him. This whole situation is just another thing on the pile of things that could and should have been avoided by a man in his circumstances. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

You have to admit this whole affair makes him and our organization look bad. Can't you even be like "man I wish he would stop doing some of this stuff."? You're just giving it the "everthing is fine" routine? “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Shouldn't he be doing his best to support her and help her through this rough time?" You: "he owns the bar" Me: "what does that have to do with anything? This is about his lack of dedication to her, why would it matter whether he owns the bar or not?" You: "so now having a drink is a lack of dedication?" It's not about what he did, it's about what he didn't and doesn't do. He goes to a bar instead of focusing on success as an NFL head coach. It doesn't matter if he owns the bar, and it isn't that having a drink at a bar means anything in particular itself. Focusing on what he was doing in the specific is how you show you don't understand what anyone is talking about. It's not about what he specifically did (for me, anyway), it's about what he doesn't do, which would be flying home with the team and getting back to work on being successful.

His social status, ownership of the business and the possibility of a setup are all irrelevant. The point is he could have and should have handled the situation differently. If he can't discipline himself, how do you expect him to discipline the team?

They’re 0-4 lol Not going to deny the man time off. Sure, he's making a disgusting amount of scratch to do his job, but there is no way anyone should be expected to spend 24-7 busting their brains trying to find that one thing that is going to magically turn this team into a winner. (spoiler, that one thing probably isn't even there to be found) If he needed a night off, take a night off. If he wanted a tasty beverage, go somewhere and enjoy a tasty beverage. You want to see a band, go see a band. If you end up somewhere that folks are invading your privacy, trying to grind on you, putting any manner of drinks laced with who knows what in front of you while doing any of those, you're either a willing participant or you need to relocate yourself immediately. In an of itself, this has next to no impact on our current or future wins and losses. Spending 3 more hours a week in the film room might, but if that leads to burnout or exhaustion, it may be more detriment than help. All we can do is hope that this or other distractions are not a trend or sign of things to come, and that Urbz is wise enough to be able to know how much effort is needed without being too much to lead this team well. Honestly?
Go home with the team, on the team flight, then when you got back home... fly right back to Ohio if that's what you want to do. Or better yet buy a stake in a local place and have your fun there. At least it'd be near where he conducts football business. Now can a player who played at OSU opt to stay behind and drink? If so.... I still don't care... this is the Head Coach... it's about optics and at 0-4... the optics are you suck. Especially since the players you cut are doing better than the players you retained. Almost like he can't spot NFL talent. (10-04-2021, 10:22 AM)TrivialPursuit Wrote: Honestly? Thanks for making my point. |
