This whole Meyer debacle is such a perfect #becausejaguar moment. Sad story is my little nephew who is is 8 now use to be such a huge Jaguar fan since he was 3. He jumped ship to the Seahawks and I asked him why. Kids are blunt. He said "because the Jaguars suck they almost always lose." The statement was so true there was nothing I could say.

Even if Khan wanted to fire Meyer, and even if Meyer didn't want to be here any more, there's the question of how to get out of Meyer's contract.  In most cases, coaches prefer to get fired, because it means they have to get paid, and owners would prefer coaches resign, because it would usually mean they are giving up their rights under the contract.  There has been some speculation that since Khan wanted Meyer so much, Meyer might have gotten a contract that is very hard for Khan to get out of.  Guarantees, no morals clause, things like that.  It might cost Khan $50-$100 million to fire Meyer.   I'm sure Khan's lawyers are trying to figure a way out of that contract.  

I supported the hiring of Urban Meyer.  As of now, it looks like I was wrong.  Really, it's amazing how quickly this thing imploded.  Four games!  Wow.

Shipped off the only talented receiving TE on the roster for peanuts before camp only to be scrambling in weeks 3 and 4 to find a serviceable receiving option at TE. 

Completely squandered literally the only sure-fire offensive weapon on the team for 2 weeks of reg season hanging his rookie QB out to dry in the process. 

The list has gotten really long in a relatively short period of time. Feels like he's in over his head.

It’s a horrible look and people Can go back n fourth all day but the only thing that matters is what the players in the Locker room think to it, hopefully there are some good leaders in the dressing room.

If I’m Meyer or Kahn though I’m giving Gilmore what ever he asks for today to make a new story get a front line player and get players in the locker room pumped. But saying all that he’ll end up at a contender

Khan spent 2 off-seasons setting up the job for Meyer. He got the GM for him, cleared cap space, and kept a lame duck coach and GM in place so they would get a top 2 pick. The entire thing was put in place before they decided to keep those 2.

He isn't firing him unless he has too because of outside pressure. His promises are empty and hollow, he never wants to admit he made a bad decision so he keeps pouring money into problems and hoping it fills the hole.

If Shad Khan decides to move on from Urban Meyer during the season,  I think he would ask Darrell Bevell to be his interim HC.  The vast majority of the Lions players on both sides of the ball responded to Bevell's leadership as interim HC well after tbe rigidity of Matt Patricia.  The substantial improvement of Trevor Lawrence is an indicator that Lawrence is responding well to Bevell's coaching.  IMHO,  the progress and mindset of Lawrence is by far the moat important aspect of the Jaguars 2021 season.

I would be ok with Bevell taking over if it comes to that. Not sure who they'd elevate to OC if that did happen. Someone who is willing to call Robinson's number frequently I hope.

I can understand this mindset with respect to motivation, and maybe that alone. Players shouldn't need a rah-rah motivational speech to want to hit the field and win. If they go out there and drag their rear, there's plenty of other guys out there willing to bust their butts and make NFL money.

His job is to lead. His job is to plan strategy to put his players in best position to succeed. His job is to be there encouraging and teaching along the way to that success. His job is to foster growth and development.

I dunno if he clarified his statement in any way, but as a one-off statement, I ain't grabbin a pitchfork over that one.

Meyers statements AFTER he got his [BLEEP] chewed by Khan come off like a guy that knows he's on thin ice and is setting the table for departure IMO.

Khan is all bark and no bite. Meyer may have gotten yelled at, but he knows he has a long leash. Khan isn't gonna fire him. Just look how long it took for him to finally get rid of Marrone and Caldwell after numerous screw ups. Hiring Meyer was all Khan's doing. If he fires him for this, he's gonna have to admit he made a massive mistake. He's not gonna do that yet. He's gonna give Meyer a long time to turn things around and make him look like a genius. I don't see that ever happening though. I believe one day, Khan's gonna have to admit this was a bad hire. I just don't believe it will be anytime soon.

And let's be real it's been going on WAY before he was hired. Those of us who were vehemently against the hire before it happened brought this type of junk up. Quitting any time the times got tough. Letting the inmates run the asylum at Florida. The Zach Smith domestic assault cover up. Literally hanging a 'treat women with respect' sign up at OSU after the Smith scandal. Sure looks like he was treating those women respectfully this weekend.

If any of this surprises anyone it was purely because they pulled the wool over their eyes to begin with.
