1 - This kinda makes sense the more I think about it. Seems like a rather deep class for Centers and not so much for Guards and Free Agency is the opposite. I get the feeling that the team is not very high on Nwaneri, and that their patience - such as it was - is almost run out on Rackley. Sign a Free Agent Guard and draft a Center.

 

2 - Seems like one of those "put an athlete at the position" moves. In my mind, the biggest thing that a Free Safety needs is range. You can get range by using several different methods, but range is key. Seems logical to me that better athletes have a better shot at developing range.

 

3 - I just can't see them going back to that position for this class.

 

4 - I'm not real sure how I feel about this. I think the guy has some flaws, but I also think that he is a dynamic player.

 

5 - This makes sense. I wonder who the pick will be if both players are available at #3? I also wonder if they get a bit of Buck Fever and trade up to two.

 

6 - Everson Griffin is intriguing. I remember when he came out of USC. Always thought he got a little lost in the shuffle in Minnesota.

FA is rich with Guards, not so much with centers, especially considering Mack was franchised. I think they'll address Center in the draft.

The only offensive lineman guaranteed to start next year is Luke Joeckel, Austin Pastzor was "ok" in pass protection but generated absolutely no push in the run game, usually your right tackle is your power tackle, AP is the opposite. He needs to get a lot stronger and play with better leverage, otherwise he'll continue to struggle, and I guarantee there will be stiff competition at the right tackle spot at the start of training camp.

If you took a good tackle and convert him into a guard, they usually turn into all-pros, simply due to the athleticism it takes to play tackle, on the flip side, there aren't too many Guards that can kickout and play tackle.

Uche has been a good guy in his time here and I wish him the best at his next stop but he was a problem here too.  He wasn't the worst OL around but an upgrade was obviously necessary.  

 

Before the move I expected the Jaguars to be big players for at least one guard via FA and probably at least one via the draft.  Along with a center drafted with a decent class of centers that will be available.  We can hopefully find a good one in the draft.

 

I fully expected Teddy and Clowney to be the top two prospects for us and I pray one of them is available at 3.

 

The same with the little to no interest in Manziel.  That's been my gut feeling all along and I would be stunned if they took him.

A lot of college tackles are built and play like guards. Most don't have the footwork to make it on the outside but inside they still have a chance.
