What exactly is LEO?

Quote:I am afraid of Barr, I think he is all athleticism and not much of a football player, he struggles to bend (like Branch). I don't like him in the top 15 picks.

I would take an Aaron Lynch somewhere ine the 2nd or 3rd and be happy with him.
When watching Barr, I noticed he didn't have a second move Once the linemen get a hold of him.

Quote:To my understanding it was once called the "Elephant role" where Pete Carroll had learned it from George Seifert.  A fancy name for a tweener that is different from most.

--------------------

“‘Elephant’ was just an e-word to designate a guy as being different from the regular defensive end,” Carroll explained.

“It’s a position that can take on different sizes and shapes, but it is a spot – a little bit of a hybrid position – that is kind of a linebacker, kind of a defensive end,” Carroll said. “We picture it as a speed-oriented guy.”

Some schemes call it the Elephant, some call it the Buck also

How is Christian Jones a LEO candidate? That's a MLB. Guy had 0 sacks last season.

I apologize. I just looked him up a 2nd time. The first website I went to showed he has 0 sacks and TFL. So yes, he seems versatile.

If we take a FSU guy it better be Telvin Smith

Can't we have both ? As Jones is viewed as an ineffective LB we can take him as a Leo, and as Telvin is viewed as a SS convert candidate we can take him as a perfect WLB for Gus scheme, both on day 3...

I can dream right ?
