Manziel vs Bridgewater

Quote:Actually USC qbs run a simply pro style offense based on the first read and check down bases...Then what makes you think if his deep route was his first read that he would be able to hit it? Quote:<div></div> Trolls gonna troll. ![]()
Quote:So you didn't notice the pristine pockets he was running in and out of like a chickenYou would have a good point if he wasn't looking to throw the football. When he leaves the pocket it isn't to run for yards like a "running QB", but instead he is keeping his eyes downfield to locate the best option to throw too..... He basically is a mini me version of Big Ben And before you go crazy, I realize Big Ben has always been a pocket passer, but a big knock on him even in the pros is that he holds onto the football to long, Johnny's version of this is running around behind the LOS, and for both players a majority of the it works for them. Quote:Just proves that Teddy ran a short pass west coast offense known for making QB's look like they are great (USC QBs) I know Johnny runs a spread but look at the chart, he threw most of his passes down field. </div> </blockquote> By this chart, Johnny threw a higher percentage of his passes behind the line of scrimmage than he did for 10-20 yards and 20+ yards. I know this is nitpicking, but you seriously are throwing things out there that have no basis in facts. I'm not saying that Johnny will be a dud. What I think is that I hate it when people justify taking a guy early because "he's a play maker" or because "he finds ways to win". To me, that sounds like you're justifying his faults simply because of a highlight reel. So lets look at facts instead. Johnny: 6' (I round up because 3/4 inches is basically an inch depending on who's holding the measuring tape) 215 lbs. Basically the same size in everyday standards, but Teddy gets knocked for being "skinny". Scrambling + straight line running ability, but doesn't show agility in the pocket. Bails way more than he should. High highs, and low lows. But even his highest high wasn't enough to win the game. Has more negative plays than he should because of running backwards Throws more YOLO balls, where he was bailed out because of having one of the biggest receivers in college Less accurate in throws less than 15 yards (which make up more than 70% of NFL throws) Teddy: 6'2" 215 lbs. I don't care if he looks skinny to you. His frame hasn't cause him to be injured even with the beating he took from Florida. Scrambling ability + ability to move around the pocket instead of break and run every time High highs, but his lows were still higher than most Hardly has negative plays because he will throw the ball away while on the run if nobody is open Throws more receivers open and more calculated back shoulder throws Extremely accurate on throws between 0 - 20 yards. Accuracy drops to about 3% lower than the other top QB's at 20+ yards. Negligible. Makes more presnap reads than any other college QB the past 2 years, and routinely goes through all of his progressions. Sells play action well, has played under center, and knows how to check into running plays If I'm looking at these two guys objectively, I can see that they are both good playmakers. If you want to think of it another way, think of it like this: A big dunk by Dwight Howard may get the crowd going and be nice for ESPN, but it's only worth 2 points. Lebron's all around game from inside, midrange, 3 point shooting, and his assists is what wins the game. Johnny is Howard. He'll wow you with a dunk every once in a while, but get him outside of the paint and he's uncomfortable as all hell. Teddy is more like LBJ. He has a complete game and can beat you a number of different ways. Again, I'm not saying that Manziel can't progress into a more complete player. I'm just of the thought that it's more likely he doesn't. That's why I want Teddy. He's a better QB now than any other QB, and he's already used to doing exactly what's going to be asked of him at the next level. Sorry for the length. Ranted a little bit.
Quote:Johnny: 6' (I round up because 3/4 inches is basically an inch depending on who's holding the measuring tape)Here is where I don't agree with you, Johnny doesn't really have straight line running ability, he evades rushers with his agility, but yes he does leave pocket early at times, more than he should. I don't understand what you mean by too many negative plays because of running backwards, guy had less sacks than TB, so please elaborate on what you mean by that. Also the YOLO ball thing is being overused, it happened in a game vs Alabama on a Ball that should have never been thrown, and after reviewing that game Mike Evans didn't even catch that pass......so if you are going to say he throws YOLO balls please point out which plays you are referring to, rather than just a highlight from one game. Quote:Here is where I don't agree with you, Johnny doesn't really have straight line running ability, he evades rushers with his agility, but yes he does leave pocket early at times, more than he should. Ok, so I took the time and broke down the Alabama game for Johnny. I'll also break down Teddy's UCF game for a comparison between games they both lost. Johnny first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJ8xVIgWEBY 5:30 - Yolo ball from the highlight reel. Bailed out bigtime. Amazing scrambling though. 7:20 - Didn't even read. Just threw it up when receiver didn't have anywhere near good position. Bad accuracy. 8:40 - Missed read. WR coming out of break @ 10 yards was wide open. 9:15 - Missed post route. Again, was wide open coming out of break. 9:50 - Horrible read and throw. Too high for WR to make a play. Winds up INT. 11:50 - Really bad scramble. Wasn't designed run because he looks to throw as he's coming back. Bailed out because of horsecollar tackle. 14:00 - Perfect read, ball placement, and throw. About a 98 yard TD. 15:30 - Good scramble. Used blocks. But still left pocket way too early. Had nobody around him. 16:00 - Good extension of play. Kept eyes downfield and made a good 1st down throw. 16:20 - Good placement, but again bailed out by an amazing catch on a YOLO ball. Teddy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeSRj45ar0c 0:35 - Bad read. Ball thrown late. Almost picked. 1:10 - Good scramble. Eyes downfield and good placement on ball. Could have thrown earlier for more YAC. 1:45 - Great read. Makes throw under preasure. Hit as he throws. Touchdown. 2:15 - Good read, steps up, accurate throw for YAC. 2:55 - Hot route. Good blitz pickup and ball placement. 3:42 - Back shoulder throw. Good accuracy. Only where his WR can get it. Hit WR in stride for big gain. 4:40 - Presnap blocking assignment changes. Threw WR open. TD. 5:10 - Doesn't freak with blocker in his face. 6:45 - Should have scrambled or thrown away. Defense came too freely. Big sack. 7:30 - Bad read and throw. Should have probably thrown away. At least ball was low where WR had a chance. 7:55 - Sells P/A hard. On target throw for YAC. 8:30 - Underthrows badly. WR never had a chance. 9:15 - Good scramble. Kept eyes downfield. 1st down throw with YAC. 9:00 - Good throw fake. Good scramble, but probably should have thrown out of bounds to save time on clock. Still had chance at the end of the game. Say what you want about my opinions, but Johnny bails on plays and improvises way too much. He doesn't trust his Oline, and trusts his athleticism too much when he could be going through his reads. He throws off his back foot a lot because of his improv. He needs a #1 WR to bail him out. When I look at Teddy, I see a guy you can build a gameplan around. I see a guy who knows what his WR's can do and makes sure he gets the ball to them in the best situation for them. He has great placement on back shoulder throws and throws to windows where only his guy can get it. He can scramble if he needs to but only does it if everything else breaks down. Teddy is the better QB. I want the better QB.
I notice you didn't point out alot of Johnnys good stuff:
:32 - great pass over defender 1:10 - great recovery and ball placement 1:42 - again great throw and placement against what looks like man cover 2 2:32 - good pocket awareness, then bought extra time and found receiver in stride on a deep comeback route (maybe an option route) 4:40 - stayed in pocket made an accurate throw in tight window 4:47 - good read and throw, but receiver was held 8:24 - reads the field buys more time then throws nice completion to side line. 8:58 - another good read and great throw on comeback/sideline 9:30 - great escape again, keeps eyes down field and found open man 9:50 - could have been a penalty, a similar play happened in the UCF game Teddy was in and the refs through a flag for PI because the defender made contact and his back was turned.....could have been called in this game as well (for the PI in Teddy's game see 8:35 - same type of pass as Johnny made here) 13:20 - stays in pocket, good TD pass 15:30 - he was planning to run on that anyway, only need 5 yards and they dropped 8 into coverage. But if he was passing yes he would have left pocket too early 16:20 - was not a YOLO ball....if you actually watch it Evans had is guy boxed out the whole time and he was single covered. He place the ball high enough where only Evans would get it. Like I said people love to throw around the word YOLO ball, just because he had a weapon that was 6'5", if TB was made that pass it would be he did a good job of recognizing a mismatch. Manziel does it it's YOLO ball....... BTW, both prospects are pretty good, and they are both going to have to learn to adjust to NFL just like any prospect will.
I bet monkey also thinks Justin Timberlake is way more talented musician than Eddie VanHalen because Timberlake has dancers......
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

Johnny makes easy plays look incredibley difficult. He often misses one of his first 2 reads which were there, scrambles around and makes a spectacular throw. Thats all fine and dandy in college but it wont work in the NFL.
