Ryan O'Hallorans Jaguar rumors (via BCC).

Quote:That makes little sense.  If Bridgewater (or any QB for that matter) is truly worth getting at #3, you won't be needing to take any other QB at all.  It would be a wasted pick.  Instead, if we're drafting a QB with our second rounder or later, then it makes perfect sense to add extra competition and/or a developmental QB later, too since they won't be the caliber QB that's worth a #3 overall.

I won't bother to add much since TMD and Eleventh doctor so capably responded to you.

I do have one question though.

What if Murray is BAP in that mid to late round?

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

I think Aaron Murray will be a steal if he falls to the later rounds because of his ACL. He likely would have been a 2nd round pick had that not happened.

Precisely.

I am glad I am not the only one who likes Aaron Murray. I am waiting until after FA to do my next mock but the last one I did had these as my first 5 picks:

1. Sammy Watkins - WR

2. Jace Amaro - TE

3. Demarcus Lawrence - DE

4. Aaron Murray - QB

4. James White - RB

Gotta give Murray (or whomever) some more weapons, IMO

No thanks on Watkins at #3. Change Watkins for Mack or Clowney and I don't mind that draft.

WR is so deep its not even funny.

I definitely wouldn't be upset at all if they went that direction. If they could get say a Watkins, Niklas, Seastrunk, and a pass rusher in the draft and then sign some FAs like Beadles, Asamoah, Houston, or Schofield I'd be happy. I think Murray could be a steal and would most likely sit behind Henne for a bit to heal and develop.

I get nervous when I hear expressions like this each year. "This position is deep".....

Maybe for #2 and slot receiver competition, but as far as true #1 WRs go, I don' think so.....

Is Watkins Calvin Johnson or AJ Green? Nope. We need people at other positions more than we need WR's.

There will be someone with an equal grade there (Mack) who plays a position we need more. The difference between Mack and Clowney from a rusher we may get in the 2nd is greater than Watkins to the WR in the 2nd.

I agree I'd rather have Mack, but Watkins is an elite talent and would give us a playmaker that we currently don't have. Certainly worthy of a top 5 pick.

He's not as big and physical as Johnson or Green, but his speed and YAC ability could put him in that elite WR conversation.

Sixth or seventh?  ...maybe.  But only because we're so bare at the position.  The value has to be there.

I think we may be surprised at how much closer the second round QB talent may be to those who come off the board in the first.  So if you're going to need a backup plan due to the lack of quality at the top of this QB crop, make a better value choice with #3 to begin with.  Get more value at another position in the first if you plan on drafting two QBs anyway.

You're right he's not that type of prospect.

But that doesn't mean he isn't a #1 WR. His scouting report is very similar that of Andre Johnson when coming out of Miami. Watkins is that type of special player IMO. Here is the report: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/footbal.../1211.html

Like I said we will see after FA. What we do in FA will help us get a better picture of what will happen in the draft. If we sign a big time Pass Rusher, I doubt that will be our first pick of the draft.

There are whispers that he is, which makes the choice a little more difficult than you may think.

Still, I think I'd take him only if Clowney and Mack are gone first.  But Mack/Watkins would be a difficult decision.

What a crazy thread lol

Ill leave this here though

@Gil_Brandt Parcells met w Teddy Bridgewater for 4.5 hours in Fla. Very impressed w QB's humility, ftball knowledge, how well-spoken + secure he was that's a long talk

If Tuna likes you, that is a very good omen

I don't know about the bolded part being necessarily bulletproof though. While Parcells did find Romo, he doesn't really have a good track record with QB's. He drafted Henne, He thought the world of Bledsoe, and he let Testaverde hang around as well.

I'm not saying that the man doesn't know talent, but he likes a very specific type of player.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Bledsoe was actually pretty good. Very good in all honesty. You could make the claim he was a top 5 qb in the mid 90s

I do agree he had some bumps with Henne, I think he stuck with Vinny so long because he had no over options

Well, he got to a Super Bowl with Bledsoe and got to the AFC title game with a washed up Testaverde, in addition to finding Romo.

He also coached Simms to become a Super Bowl QB, and heck, he even won a Super bowl with Jeff Hostetler.

I have no doubt that the guy can coach, I'm just not so sure about his "eye" for QB talent is all.

I can see that.  George Young drafted Simms and Hostetler.

Whoever the Patriots GM was in 1993 drafted Bledsoe.

I think Parcells brought in Testaverde to NY and Romo to Dallas (though I wonder how much influence Payton had).

I think even if he didn't bring in the QBs, I think he recognizes what wins in the NFL at the position, even if he never had the best guy under center.

At this point in the process, I completely agree with you. Clowney, and then Mack/Watkins would be a tough one.

Henne was a 2nd rounder.  Toward the end of the second round too.  Bledsoe and Testaverde were both pretty good as well.  While it's not 'bulletproof' something being a good omen is by no means bulletproof in the first place.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
