swimming pool on the practice field? @It worked once....@

Olympic sized!  Hey, that's some good training/exercise there.  We could have the most fit team in the league.

My source thinks if this is true we are going with Bevell

The worst part of this will be that Bevell won't even get a shot to make his case that he's a worthwhile hire or not. He will be persona non grata from the moment Shad smiles for the cameras and hands him the key to the team.

I am kinda numb at this point. I just understand that the fanbase is fed the hell up and won't be silent until they get what they want (whether it works or not) or the guy they don't like somehow wins in spite of the backlash.

Shad keeps sticking his hands into the works, and it always ends up leaving him with scars.

I hope it's someone most fans will get excited about and want to buy tickets for. That's actually important. Also, I can see why the owner doesnt want to get rid of balkie. He probably doesnt want to change gms this often.

Fangio would be the equivalent of going back to Marrone.

It would be the most deflated presser ever to announce him as the new coach.

The Jaguars are trying to hire Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich. Unless they aren’t.

“In response to a report from Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times that the Jags are attempting to finalize a contract with Leftwich, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team continues to talk to Leftwich and Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, and that the Jaguars “are not close to a deal with anyone at this time.””

This is an article from Jan 26 that you posted on Jan 29. What was the purpose of reposting this historical artifact?

I know, three whole days... Maybe because I hadn't seen it posted. lol

No, I have been assured by moderators here that when you hire a HC they bring all their staff with them.  To think otherwise is utterly naive and goes to show you know nothing about football.  Therefore your concern is entirely misplaced.  Balke will have absolutely nothing to do with finding the staff who will fill the few holes Bevell has in his '22 coaching lineup.

Stop being childish.

Coaches generally have a circle of contacts that they keep close should they get a job and need assistants. Do you not think that if some of the OC/DC hires being made by the teams that have already filled their vacancy isn't going to deplete some of the potential hires your candidate might be interested in bringing with them?

In this league, it's a domino effect. An OC promotes to HC. He hires a position coach or coordinator as his OC/DC. Now the other teams need to replace those guys, too. Do they all just sit around and wait for you to get your coach hired and set your staff before they start picking from the pool of talent available? See how this works? Every day that we sit idle is another day that other teams are hiring GMs, scouts, coordinators, position coaches, or other staff that are going to put us at a disadvantage of choosing from a depleted list of eligible candidates, plain and simple.

At this stage I'm kinda thinking that advice is sound for both professionals in the league and fans of the team.

Avoid, you will get burned.

So looks like Shad has 2 choices here:

1. Keep Baalke and hire Bevell.
2. Get rid of Baalke and hire Byron/Wilson

Can’t interview Baalkes last ditch effort in O’Connell and even if you wait, there’s not a guarantee he wants to come here. He will most likely get hired by Minnesota before then anyway.

I really wish someone did a deep dive on the worst coach hiring process ever…. This has to be at the top.

Right.

The only thing I can't understand is the silence around the Byron situation. That's the only thing that makes me remain hopeful...if the deal is off, why aren't his agents trying to put him out there on the market again? I can't believe no one is even going to interview him (and the Saints reportedly asked permission for that).
Why is that so silent from Byron side?

Other than that glimmer of hope man....a complete disaster of a process. 1 month and a half of searching and we are here reading Schefter tweeing we can't interview a guy because apparently our staff didn't even bother to interview him when they could.

Never seen anything like this before. Someone joked about it but we'll really end up with David Culley lol

Not gonna lie I had to laugh at this knowing it was posted right before the Bisaccia news broke. Never underestimate Shad's ability to F things up.

The rumor is the Burrs hired their GM and coach so that their 91-year old owner didn't have to re-learn names.

That's seriously a more flawed process than our own, but at least they've acted?
I gotta wonder if the recent second wave of new candidates is more that Bevell either doesn't want the job, or Khan is desperate to find anyone else willing to work with Baalke just so that he doesn't appear to be compromising to either of the two options presented.

Are you sure that is a more flawed process than ours? I can't say for sure.

Maybe next I should say “no chance Shad hires Byron, Fangio and Wilson”

It’s sad when it’s reached the point where I don’t want to see first time head coach candidates that I like (Bisaccia, O’Connell) take this job because I don’t want to see their careers ruined before they even have a chance to begin, but that’s where we’re at. If we’re keeping Baalke, I’d rather hire another fall guy like Mularky to go down with the ship. Fangio would actually fit that bill.

Let me keep Baalke on board for the coaching search, and let the candidates decide his fate. That couldn’t possibly go wrong!

What happened to that Peter King video saying Baalke would willingly step down if he thought he was part of the problem?

As dysfunctional as it is, at least it sounds like BL could still be an option.  Both Baalke and Byron have the same agent too, right?

Well, at least we know what a washed up, ex average lineman thinks of the situation. I guess that counts for something.  " The streets" , Buuuwwwaaaa!!.

That report about Baalke being willing to step down if he’s the problem is the most insincere thing I’ve ever heard in my life. If that we true, he would have stepped down already. I don’t even know why he wants to stay so badly at this point. He must be a narcissist.

Seriously... he cares about the team we love. That's a positive thing. Man... you sound sad.

It's like Baalke and Bevell have created a bunch of burner accounts in Jan 2022. Just ignore them.

Not sad at all. Achieved plenty. Just not so emo that I think some ex players opinion means anything to me. I'm happy for you that it does though.
