Jags to hire Leftwich as next head coach!!
|
If you were a coach, would you want to be here? I would think giving a coach their first HC position would be one of the only ways to get anyone decent. Anyone who comes here clearly has the odds against them.

If Pederson said he he would of worked with Baalke he might of been offered the job first. The reason Byron was offered the job is because he didn't say he wouldn't work with Baalke until the job was offered. He should of brought it up in the first interview even though it would be awkward, or even in a private call. It was pretty clear from reports they knew Pederson didn't want to work with Baalke right off the bat. Pederson was an afterthought from the first interview until Spielman came back into play. It's all rumoured here but I've seen it nowhere. I put that gossip down to his agent trying to build hype and maximum interview opportunities that to genuine Jags leaking. People here are jumping to the hype man's tune. Follow the monied interests when considering leaks and you'll know where it's coming from and if it's worthwhile. If Leftwich were lined up to interview with 6 of the 8 clubs then I would think the leaks are coming from the Jags as they try to convince everyone else to give up and pursue easier paths. Seeing as Leftwich only got interviews with 2 of the 8 then I think it's much more likely the leaks are from his agent who is trying to get a few more clubs to talk to his guy. That's a reasonable argument for there being a month between interviews. Particularly if Pederson is bringing his core team with him. if he's going to transform the Jags org then Kahn better have a good, deep look at the plans before accepting them given the [BLEEP] show that the last few coaches have served up. If Pederson doesn't work out then Kahn can do a Balke/Bevell combo for another year. Will serve up garbage but what's new? Better to eat the garbage you know than have another UM bomb by picking the wrong guy in haste. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

This could have been because Pederson was an early interviewee who didn't want to work with Baalke, so they pursued other options - which led to Leftwich. And at what point did Leftwich say he wanted Baalke out and his preferred candidate in? From what I understand he was noncommittal about working with Baalke during the interview, so he didn't raise the concern about Baalke until later - perhaps after the initial offer was made. I don't think you can say for certain that Pederson wasn't a more desirable option than Leftwich. We just don't know that for certain. ![]()
Honestly, if the ball is dropped on Pederson, I would rather retain Bevell and the rest of the staff at this point, and that includes getting Cullen back. We’re going to end up doing this again next year, so at least let Lawrence stay in the same offense as opposed to having four head coaches and three offensive coordinators in his first three years in league.

You're certainly a better developed and more experienced player after 4 to 5 years in college, but on average the level of talent playing in the Senior Bowl is probably lower than the average level of talent of players leaving early because they're more desired. I guess its good for the later round picks to eval this game? Asking sincerely The Senior bowl is the most over-hyped mess I keep reading about. How many times have Jaguars coaches coached there and had scouts there? Still didn't help us pick the right players most of the time. ![]() (02-03-2022, 07:35 PM)Cleatwood Wrote: https://twitter.com/e_dilla/status/14893...73666?s=21 Heh, Jags fans always want whatever didn't happen. I really do think Pederson or Caldwell would be really good for this football team. With that said, we are the Jagwads. We will end up with somebody most of us will hate.

I know it’s not everything but I really liked how much Byron wanted this job and had a plan laid out of what he wanted to do.
Yes pederson was a better candidate prior to the process, but he had no interest in the job and is having to be persuaded to take it. The fact he interviewed 4 days ago and hasn’t been announced shows he’s not that keen even with the idea of Spielmen (02-03-2022, 07:49 PM)Craigukjag Wrote: I know it’s not everything but I really liked how much Byron wanted this job and had a plan laid out of what he wanted to do. There’s been talk that Spielman being fired from the Vikings was somewhat of a surprise, and had he stayed, Peterson would likely have been his first choice to replace Zimmer.
