What 3 extra games would we have won if we had a better punter?

Carolina (fumbles punt inside the 30 they drive to win game) Pittsburg( 2 kicks from close to endzone that does not cross the 50 yard line) Cleveland(Shanked punt led to easy TD for browns)

 

 

 

 

It was so obvouis a punter cost us games that jeansmiffs drafted one the next year in the 3rd round.

For me, this move gets marked as the first real disagreement I have had with Caldwell as far as personnel moves. Oh well, we knew it was coming.

That makes absolutely no sense.  Why not carry 3 QB's on the active roster come week 1 and beyond?  The Redskins did it when they took Cousins and Griffin (they also had Grossman).  

 

And if a QB does come along and wow everyone... Henne can be cut.  It's that simple.  

 

I didn't say it was a bad idea to carry 3 QB in the case of 2 being drafted this season. I just don't see the Jags carrying 3. They didn't last year, and could have sworn I remember Bradley or Caldwell last year saying that carrying 3 QB was something that they didn't prefer.

A bad backup, one that represents the losing culture we are trying to move on from and the signing of a veteran likely signals that we won't be drafting 2 QB in May. I strongly doubt they are carrying 3 QB on the active roster come week 1 and beyond.

Dude, chill.. He won't be our starter for much longer.. This team has gone years without a winning season. If anything, you should be excited that Henne is being retained because that means Gabbert is on borrowed time finally. Signing Henne makes the most sense. He's not going to command a ton of money, he knows the playbook, he's familiar with the team and he isn't a locker room distraction. Why throw money out to another back up QB who doesn't know the offense, and by the time he does learn the offense, will be holding the clipboard anyway? Henne was a great signing..

You honestly believe that McCown or Weeden are all that different than Henne? The only difference would be we'd at that point be guaranteed of keeping 3 QB on the roster, with the 2 rookies and Weeden/ or McCown. Now, we'll just avoid drafting that developmental QB altogether, and just draft one. I don't like it at all. 

There are no guarantees.  You don't know if we're going to avoid drafting that developmental QB altogether or not.  If it still happens, you will be eating corneille for years to come.  

 

And I'd rather have Henne than Luke McCown or Weeden.  Shaun Hill is to Chad Henne, as Chad Henne is to Luke McCown and Weeden.

I know the system thing will be the company line around here now, but Josh McCown or whoever coming in and learning the system would be better than a "seasoned" Henne. IMO.
