If the money balloons to a ridiculous amount, perhaps there’s someone else out there our front office believes in more long term.

At that point, when another team pays him more than we are willing to pay him, he goes to that other team and thrives, and we wish we had him back.  Just like so many others.  Also at that point, we have to overpay a different guy, or spend a high draft pick, to replace him on the roster.

Just because a player isn’t a superstar doesn’t mean you have to let them walk we have loads of cap room you keep good players and try get more good players. If we were tight against the cap I get it’s a different story but you can’t allow good players out the door for no reason at all

At some point, though, you have to weigh the benefit of familiarity against the other things, like cost, availability, and market.

Nothing to this point has said we aren't going to make an offer, or that he's refused any offer.
If he thinks he's worth $15 a year and the Jags think closer to 10, best of luck to him finding that payday.
If we think we can get as good or better by signing someone else on the market, sorry, DJ, but this is business.
If the team looks at his injury history and doesn't expect that trend to change, I don't blame them for trying to find someone else to fill his role, we've had to do that a bunch already.
We're not burning contracts just for the sake of change, here.

Zactly.
Someone will dangle a big carrot, and he'd be dense not to take it. Like MVP, I'm fine if we make him an affordable offer, maybe even sweeten the deal with incentives based on active roster time, (would bonus based on 16 games played in a season be considered likely to be earned in his case?) but if someone drops $30M in his hands just to sign with them, no chance I'm throwing down on that gamble.

I have been advocating franchising Cam Robinson, but I certainly don't wanna sign him long term. He's just the best of a bad situation right now. This OT draft class is nothing short of pathetic and he represents the best option right now. Next year, I'm hoping things will improve and the OT class in 2023 will be better. If that happens, I don't want to be stuck with Cam.

Dude had a fractured ankle. Sounds to me like he knows he will never be the same so he wants a new contract before playing again because it's going to be revealed that he doesn't have the same speed and he will likely suffer a career ending injury again.

WRs are like a dime a dozen.  Just go get some small quick shifty good route running WRs and we'll be fine.

Personally I’d offer him a 1 year prove it deal for a reasonable price. It’s not the end of the world if he does go as he’s only had 1 good year of production. However there is talent there, and is like to see if a better coaching staff can pull that out of him

If he is fully healed, which should be expected, and he can work out for other teams, then there is absolutely no chance, zero chance, that he would sign the so-called "one year prove it deal."

No way. There is really no way to tell if he is mentally in a good place. You just have to take his word for it and who's to say he won't come back and realize he was better off away from the game. There is just way too much risk involved with Ridley. 

Personally, as deep as this draft is at WR, I definitely draft 2 and maybe even 3, if I find one with potential in the final round as well. I also bring in a couple UDFA's too.

It’s good for teams that need one or two more key pieces to put them over the top, but we’re rebuilding. We need to be that smart team that comes in after the feeding frenzy and walks away with players that can contribute as solid starters or quality depth.

I fractured my left ankle 3 times and my right ankle 3 times. In middle school and high school, I played basketball, football, baseball, cross country, wrestled, weight lifted, ran track, and played volleyball and flag football. 

Everytime I got my cast off within about 2 weeks, I was full speed and never had an issue with explosiveness, agility, speed, acceleration, hand eye coordination, etc.
