Huh?

Trudeau - “The mandate is lifted”

Everyone goes home.

That would set a precedent that would encourage people to think that they could blackmail a democratically elected government into doing whatever they want.  It would invite mob rule.

Agreed. Governments cannot give into this. Ask Portland, they know.

Either strategy results in screwing business owners and their employees.

Both of which contribute to higher prices and supply shortages affecting everyone.

Trudeau has science on his side to lift the mandates IF he chooses to use science.  Biden too for that matter.  The pandemic is now an endemic and it is time to start treating it as such.

Of course, but he cannot do it while people are, figuratively speaking, holding a gun to his head.

If he did that, he would invite others to shut things down in order to get what they want.  That's not how a free society with a democratically elected government should operate.

Except when a free society chooses to act this way because a 'democratically elected government' no longer acts as such.

So you think mob rule is one of the acceptable characteristics of a free society?

This doesn't sound like 'mob rule' to me. Check the 'fiery protests' of 2020 if you want a definition of that. This seems basically peaceful. Certainly by comparison. Correct me if I may have missed an reported act of aggression or violence.

You think it's okay for people to break the law in an attempt to force the government to do what they want, any time they don't agree with government policy?

if that's your definition, then include congressmen/women, senators, governors, presidents and countless government officials as participants in that philosophy.

That's not an answer.

In certain situations. Civil disobedience. I'm pretty sure MLK and others were charged with breaking the 'law' during the civil rights unrest.

And he went to jail.  Do you think people who engage in civil disobedience should go to jail?

You mean like in the 70’s when Canadian Truckers shut down the borders for 10 days until their demands were met?

Do you think anyone should be allowed to shut down the border until their demands are met?

What if BLM shut down the border until we met their demand that we defund the police?  Would that be okay with you?

Not always. Do you think MLK should have gone to jail for peacefully marching for his civil rights?

Any time he broke the law, he should have gone to jail, and he said so himself.  He was willing to go to jail.

My opinion is, any time someone breaks the law they should suffer the penalties as set forth in the law.

Respectfully, 6 million Jews under the German Nazi regime would disagree with you. Im not trying to conflate this blockade with that, but this is how poison seeds of conformity are planted.
