I believe Shad thought he was simply going to come in and buy a team, splash a few million around, immediately put all the right people in place, and instantly start winning while he basically put it on autopilot. Once he learned that the NFL is an extremely difficult and competitive industry he has shriveled as a human being.

Just juxtapose the Shad that held up that game ticket in his first press conference and confidently said he was going to make a Jaguars ticket the hottest ticket in the league to the Shad that was fumbling through every question as if he had never been questioned in his life during Pedersons press conference.

Exactly. We are the worst run franchise in all of sports. I really believe that Shad Khan has no interest at all in the game of football. He just sees this team as a cash cow. He certainly doesn't run this team like he has any interest or knowledge of football.

The clear implication from that is that the EVP search has not really started yet.  That undermines everything I've said about it.  I thought it was happening, but no one could see it because it was behind the scenes.  That quote tells me, we aren't seeing it because it doesn't exist.  Wow.  What in the world, if anything, is going on in the head of Shad Khan?

It's not Baalke in this case.  It's Shad Khan.  He doesn't seem to want to put in the work to get this team going.  If that's not true, he needs a much better PR staff, because this kind of stuff is what people see.

Edit: Of course, it's possible Tony Khan just used a poor choice of words.  Maybe he meant "As he gets deeper into the process..." Maybe Khan and his people are doing the preliminary legwork and Tony will get involved with the finalists.  That's the only good way I can spin what Tony said.

Who knows?  Maybe he used imprecise language to light a fire under his dad.  Tony is no dolt.

The Combine starts tomorrow. I have lost all hope that an EVP will have any effect on this draft or free agency. We are at the mercy of a man (Baalke,) who decimated a Superbowl team (Niners) with his bad drafting and terrible free agent moves. They had to totally rebuild when he was fired, because he left them in such bad shape.

Well, I'm not 100% sure if this was supposed to be an insult or a lame attempt at humor.  But being a male, yes I do.  But that physical manifestation does not occur with me when fawning over an average NFL coach.  Only when the opposite sex is involved.  But that's OK, everybody has their weird quirks.
