Jordan Davis was the reason why guys like Wyatt, Dean and Cine were able to flourish. I watched every single Bulldogs game last year, at least the ones where the competition was up to snuff. Davis wasn't really taking any plays off until the game was out of reach for their opponent. Other than that? Early and often he was a problem for the grand majority of offensive lineman he went up against.
I think his size and speed are just too enticing for a team to pass up on. I am sure an NFL DL coach is salivating at a chance to work with that type of athlete on his technique. If he's there on the 2nd night with pick 33? I already have his name dried in ink on the card the night before to turn in. However, I would also be just as tempted to field any trade opportunities there from a non divisional opponent. There's probably a team willing to swap 2's and fork over a 3rd or future pick to take him. Depending on how the WR and TE class looks after the opening night and after how free agency shakes out? A trade opportunity could very well be there. Having that pick at 33 could be a game changer in the right hands. In Baalke we trust I guess? ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The Chargers ranked #30 in the NFL against the run and he would be a perfect fit for them. (03-06-2022, 08:29 AM)TheO-LineMatters Wrote:I agree. He's like Jason Peters athletically. Just on defense. Makes sense in that division where you have pass happy offenses. He should be good enough to shut down the ground game early while also being a headache to block on 3rd and long situations. Unless you consider bending down forward to touch the line bend
Hand usage, power, quickness, and fundamentals beats bend. You can be the most flexible person in the world but it doesn't matter if you dont have the rest. Flexibility/bend is nice but, if I want my guy to have an elite trait give me the other ones first.

I did want to give him an extension but I don't think I put a number on it past saying that it should be in line with inflation. I definitely didn't praise his bend either. He won with effort and hands.
I really want the Jags to coke out of this draft with Troy Andersen. Think he is going to be special.
Also would be cool to give him a package on offense.

We might need to keep our eye on Pitre. He would look really good at safety next to Cisco.
I love the Combine! So much hope. And this is going to be a deep draft in rounds 2 -5. This team could get well. Package those 6th rounders and get back up there to grab another impact player. ![]() Fix the O-Line!

Pitre looks very nice, but Baalke specifically said safety was not a position of need in the combine interview. Unfortunately Jenkins is still very overpaid and guaranteed too much money, so I don't think they'll invest in safety nearly as early as it'll take to get Pitre...which would probably need to be 33.

The problem is there’s so many good players in this draft a lot of them are going to be playing for our division rivals. If we could just get, besides Hutchinson, a couple of receivers, a tight end, and a couple interior lineman, that would be an amazing draft for us. We also need a true inside linebacker in the draft or free agency. ![]() Fix the O-Line!

Yeah I have done quite a few PFF mock simulations since the combine and I keep winding up with EDGE at 1 and then usually a WR at 33 and a linebacker (I just can't pass on Asamoah or Muma that late) and high RAS OT with 65/70 (Lucas or Diesch both broke the goldilocks 4.47 SS) to be the RT of the future. With all of our extra day 3 picks I want to just load up on the WRs and linemen that crushed the athletic drills.
Does Kyle Hamilton still end up a top 10 pick? I figure some team will fall in love with him, but just wondering.

It was just a few short years ago when average Safeties ran something closer to like 4.7/40's and a 4.59 would be considered extremely fast. Safeties just keep getting quicker though. A 4.59 for a Safety is kinda like a CB running a 4.5 flat. It's not bad, it's just not especially impressive compared to other players. Take into account Hamilton's size, technique and amazing instincts and he's still an elite top 5-10 player in this draft. |
