looking at his measurables, i thought he would be a Nickel

Then looking at his highlights, he is fantastic on the outside with his ball skills and recognition

look forward to seeing how he is used

If we draft Hutchinson, next year's defense could be pretty good.  Better coverage leads to more sacks, more pass rush means more turnovers.  Pret-ty pret-ty good...

3/30 up to 39 is not bad at all.
Reading up on him, it doesn't seem like he plays the slot that much. Does this mean Griffin moves to nickel? Certainly not Campbell.

I wouldn't be opposed to DW and TC outside and Griffin in the slot.

I'm sure the full scouting reports from the pro personnel dept. have been analyzed and they know who they want to put where, but I admit that I really don't know except that it's unlikely Campbell slides in.

I'd say he was the best "bargain" so far. Not only is he a very good player, but he fills a big need covering the slot receiver. As a bonus, he reportedly took less money to come here than other offers since he is a hometown guy. One other thing about Williams is that he is reportedly the "anti-Ramsay"- very humble and lets his play on the field do the talking.

Linder likely cut. Shatley the new center.

Very nice!

I am absolutely fine with overpaying for EVERYONE this year in free agency.
Cap is inflated league wide and we have more space than most.
And they are giving themselves cap relief 2 or 3 years in on most of these contracts.
I'm fine with all of it so far.

And I really like the D Williams add too.

You have to given our cap space combined with Lawrence’s rookie deal.  You have to capitalize on the opportunity.  If Lawrence takes the step many expect, we will contend for the division this year.

Yes, Darious has been an outside corner for his career. It's a testament to him that he has fared so well outside at his size. I think his traits also lend to him being very good in the slot too. He'll have to learn run fits and stuff but from a coverage standpoint I think he'd be just fine.

However, Shaq and Campbell do not have nickel traits so I think it's going to have to be Darious by default. We all remember completely washed up Edelman absolutely abusing Campbell from the slot. That would be the story of the season if either Griffin or Campbell line up inside.

Hearkening back to the past several weeks of this MB lamenting that NO ONE will sign with the Jags in free agency if we don't fire Baalke and we'll have to overpay all of them.

Yes, I know we are still overpaying them, and I'm good with it

But nobody will want to come here....

Most hated man in the sport...

Wait, is this one a 'value signing'?

This will be SEVEN starters we've signed in the last 2 days. If we get 3 starters from the draft, that will be TEN new starters next year.

We've gone from "We're screwed, Baalke is going to ruin any chances we have at bringing in talent"  to signing :

Christian Kirk
Evan Engram
Zay Jones
Brandon Scherff
Foye Oluokun
Foley Fatukasi
and
Darious Williams

 -  almost immediately as free agency began.

What a world.

I would bet most players care more who the coaches than the GM. They deal with the coach a lot more directly.

If Baalke has a good draft and we have a good season, we are gonna have to do something nice for the guy for all the [BLEEP] we gave him all these months Laughing

I am a fan, not a cheerleader.

I will admit that money talked more than I thought it would with the non premium position names. Actually, I am more surprised that other teams have stayed as frugal as they have despite so much cap space league wide. I saw very few eye popping contracts handed out that weren't ours.

I still say we used a franchise altering amount of cap space on a non franchise altering list of names. I am very happy that we got the one premium position guy that does change my outlook a fair amount, probably like a full letter grade if we were handing out grades (I'm sure we will have a grades thread once FA wraps up). Thanks hometown.

There are some who will give him no credit. According to them, this was all Doug Pederson.
