They ruined Jack like that. They ruined Bryan like that. They ruined Chaisson like that. They ruined Fowler like that.

I know. Different coaching staff. Just concerned this Franchise has a history of trying to get too cute too early with freak athletes.

For Walker. I want to see three things. I want it kept simple.

1st and 2nd downs? You're mopping up blockers and keeping your eyes on the running back. Not looking for pass rush. Not looking for guessing games. Maintain your lane.

This team got demolished in a few games last year on the ground. Only time he's pass rushing is in a 3rd and a country mile.

I don't want him dropping back in coverage or lining up at LE or RE and then off the edge at LB. You wanted a 3 - 4 end? You got him. So play him like one.

Keeping him at one spot...a good sign.

However there are still questions.

1.  Can the coaches develop him into an edge rusher?

2.  How long will it take?

3.  Can you resist the temptation to move him around?

Coach and Baalke are both saying they are going to settle him in to one position.

I can understand the coach having that opinion, I would be worried just what position Baalkie is talking about.

I'm not happy about the pick, but I'm trying to find some positive in this. Walker played on a great defense with other great players who also made a lot of great plays. He wasn't in the same pass rush role as Hutch. And he played against better offenses than Hutch. So maybe he can put up better numbers than what he did in Georgia.

Thibs definitely has the personality for New York. Issue is that he will be compared to guys like Strahan and Pierre Paul immediately

I could see Walker starting at OLB/EDGE and taking a few rotational reps at 3-4 DE before the season is done if he adapts well to NFL coaching.

I look forward to a lot of crow eating from this thread. I reckon Walker is going to be amazing. We have much better coaches this year. Has so much potential

Wow.. what potential are we looking to get? The potential that he doesn't do a darn thing?

That;s the thing.  if the Jaguars had a better history of developing players, I might feel better about it.

Now I don't know Caldwell's or Buckner's history of developing edge rushers, but the team's failures to develop a lot of players is discouraging.

So can we talk about how [BLEEP] dumb the Texans are?

Yup he'll be a stand up OLB first and they'll go from there. He was announced as a "LB".

The way I see it...not until we beat them.  They swept us last year...embarrassing us.

Not a fan of him being selected number 1 overall. However, he is an intriguing player. A huge risk from at least 3 other safer players there in the top 5. I hope that he shows up on the next level. This will definitely make or break Trent Baalke and the defensive staff. Benefit of the doubt for now.

Can't wait to see round 2. Or if they manage to trade up into the bottom 1st.

Stingley might be the most talented player in this whole draft.  It was on potential like the Walker pick

The issue is that now he takes on a mantle of No. 1 pick. That is a lot of pressure.

A lot of fans and many in the national press will consider him a bust even this year if he is not at least in the conversation for DROY. Anyone reasonable should know that is crazy expectations. But that is what people will expect.

The only way to make all this not be in issue is:
1. Win.
2. Have Trevor look like who he was projected to be.

If the Jags do those things, no one will care how long it is taking Walker to develop.

Jags history of development doesn't mean anything with a new staff in place.

If you have a gripe with Caldwell's ability, or Brenton Buckner's ability to develop players, that's what would matter here.

I think him on one side and Allen on the other is going to be fun to watch.

What is really going to help him, is we actually have a pretty good defensive line. If teams continue to double team Josh Allen he’s going to dominate. Then teams will need to double him and Allen will be free.

I’m really excited to see this defence with all the new additions. Will be interested to see who they draft at LB
