Quote:Just like Michael Bennett had a deal in place with the Bears?

The agents play the media and leak info about deals they have "in place" to drive up the cost of a player.

The media folk like Lacanfora, Mortensen and company tweet it out.

And some fans lap it up like it's fact.
I never saw anything that said there was a deal in place w/ Bennett and the Bears...only that they were in the lead for him, but regardless this will be an interesting period because it's the first time there has been a legal tampering period so the info that's out there should be more true than in the past.

@JasonLaCanfora: When the Michael Johnson signing with the Bucs becomes official, I hear the deal will average $8.5M/year with around $24M guaranteed

Less than some of us thought

Yeah I thought he would be getting about 10M/year. But that is a lot of guaranteed money.

The guaranteed money is what matters and that is a lot.

I'm sure glad Bucs are overpaying for Johnson and not Jaguars.

He would be a nice player for us but not at that price.

I'm glad it was the Bucs.  One less team STL can trade back with for Clowney if Houston passes on him.

agreed, if Clowney is there at 3 no doubt in my mind we take him no matter what qb is on the board

Quote:Revis is still arguably the best corner in the league.

The problem is it makes no sense for a new GM of a rebuilding team to keep him at the insanely overpaid contract he had.

Makes more sense to release him and use the money elsewhere. Or save the money since the Bucs owners are known for being notoriously cheap.

I'm just amazed they would sign him to that and then next year say, we over paid...  Well no sheet Sherlock, was that not apparent last year?

Now Atl needs to sign Lamar Houston or Justin tuck.

My Sherlock reference was at the bucs, not you.  But yes, thanks for pointing that out.  To me though, you stick it out with him for one more year.  He should actually be healthy this year.

I hope so.  I think O-line is a bigger need for them anyway.

I would've given Michael Johnson more, but as I've said from the start I was pretty sure Dave wouldn't. I'm not upset though, just saying I knew what his philosophies were and giving top 5 guaranteed money (for the position) to anyone he didn't draft isn't Dave's unfortunately.

Sounds like Beadles is happening...yay...

Also, there's been rumors of Eric Decker which I like much more, just a #2 WR obviously but much better than Beadles.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Even as a player entering his 10th season and coming off an injury plagued season,  I'm anticipating DeMarcus Ware signing a lucrative contract.   Especially considering the demand for edge rushers is greater than the supply.
